Since this blew up, it's understandable hospitals would be overwhelmed. Imagine if the US said they found a new virus in NYC - every cough would have people going to the emergency room.

So true. It's unbelievable how quickly panic can set in and society unravel. Have seen it here in Texas a couple times last few years. Even a hint of an issue spreads like wild with store shelves emptied, generators sold and general panic spreading. If something like this occured in Chicago or new york definitely would be hysteria.

With lots of uncertainty in both case data and model uncertainty, R0 estimates will be changing rapidly. Important to update and monitor. We've updated our estimates with case data through 22 Jan. New estimated R0 of 2.5 95% CI 2.4, 2.6. Paper to be updated asap. #coronvirus

I’m not going to link, you can find it on reddit if you want. Videos coming out of Wuhan pleading to get information out to west. It Chinese but with English subtitles. Basically it is much worse than being reported. The healthcare system can dx but doesn’t treat just sends people home. At least one clinic closed due to infected staff. This is not hard to find on reddit. It appears legit. Voicemail of inconsolable healthcare workers stating 90,000 cases. They don’t even have the supplies to test for it now, it ran out. The are begging people to stay inside and not eat out during the Chinese New Year. Extremely disturbing. I hope it is all wrong and a hoax but it looks legit to me. If you look on reddit is isn’t hard to find. I’m not going to link. I need a break from the internet.

Not likely. I pray China comes to its senses and allows medical professionals from around the world come in to help, because damn the media reports, the situation is out of control.

I think it is more likely the government is lying than a collection of local medical professionals with more to lose.
