No, I don’t have time to dig into Swine flu particulars right now so I am not pretending that I know.

It's easy to post-event Monday morning quarterback this type of thing. This is just like hurricane season where people go crazy at emergency declarations and then it doesn't hit their area.
Exactly

Here is where my issue lies
I feel like we are currently the person that goes to McDonald’s and orders a Big Mac meal but gets it with a Diet Coke in order to be healthy.....
I would disagree with full on cancelations and full on qurantine/containment, but that at least would follow a logical pattern to me
The picking and choosing of random cancellations while we all still congregate at work at other places follows no logical pattern to me

Good news
From Taiwan. We really need to step our game up.

Academia Sinica develops antibodies for rapid immune-based test kit of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus Currently available RT-PCR-based SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus diagnostic tests take about 4 hours to obtain results, with throughput limited by availability of laboratory facilities and trained personnel. To prevent the pandemic spread of the coronavirus, a faster way to detect infected patients is urgently needed. Today, Academia Sinica (AS) proudly announced that the first group of monoclonal antibodies specifically binding the coronavirus nucleocapsid protein (N protein) has been successfully generated and tested by Dr. An-Suei Yang and his team at the Genomics Research Center in AS. If successfully manufactured and validated, the rapid immune-based test kit could detect coronavirus in only 15 minutes, just like a rapid influenza test.

Slowing it so the Healthcare system can keep up is a critical component of that chart. If partial quarantines, cancelations meet that need then so be it. I don't know that answer though.

I get that. Maybe it is just starting with baby steps and try and tamp down exposure a bit without completely shutting everything down. Maybe it will do nothing and more extreme measures have to be taken. Medicine is often not black and white.

Some people actually just like Diet Coke.
Myself, I don't care for either but just saying.

Denmark is a country with 400 cases and zero deaths as of today.
Either they are horribly under reporting and experiencing systemic issues already, or they are going on the South Korea model and attempting to cut this thing off at it's knees before it spreads.

The people of Taiwan are too nice to keep the test to themselves.
But after the horrible way they've been treated by the WHO and other international agencies, I wouldn't blame them for sticking a big middle finger up and telling everyone else, especially mainland China, to create their own tests.
