What? Flu happens every year. How is this not as bad as the flu? At the least, it’s causing widespread panic. 30 ppl died in Italy and 1000 infected in one week. If that occurred here, would you be saying the same thing
The typical flu season kills tens of thousands of people.
It's not the absolute impact that this virus has had that is freaking people out but the potential of it.

I heard someone in Oregon died from Coronavirus today. So if I’m right that makes the current score....
Coronavirus 1
Influenza 16,000+
Remember, I’ve been one of the ones trying to temper rampant hysteria for the past month.
But if you don’t see how that’s a fricking stupid comparison I don’t know why anyone should give your words any weight. You’ll just shift goalposts and pretend that’s where you stood all along.
1) it was revealed, with evidence, in this thread that flu deaths in the US are over reported and stated. Unless otherwise specified, any death citing pneumonia is automatically attributed to the flu in spite of a wide array of potential causes.
Even if you don’t want to take a random Joe Poster’s word for it:
2) We are on the 152nd day of the flu season. We are ~30th day of the virus being in the US....one with a history of causing death in the 21-40 day window after infection.
You REALLY think pointing out that one means anything, even if the underlying point isn’t wrong?

Jesus.....looking at the past couple of pages, as hilariously annoying the doomsdayers were, I think I’d rather them to this surge of e-tough guys that have popped up.

Sorry douchebag, what would you like to discuss?
Comparisons of past/other events are pretty typical in discussing current events.

If China is telling the truth about the number who have died...

As usual, we can't have a normal discussion on this site without idiots from both sides coming in and ruining a thread.
"But muh flu"
"This is going to be an apocalyptic event"
Why don't you all just shut the frick up and stop ruining a thread with good discussion?

Wait until the mask discussion spills over to this thread.

I think we are going to find that out really soon, just by watching the spread in our own country

Saw a seller on Amazon who had 10-pack 3M N95 masks in stock.
They were $320 for a pack, before shipping.

Anyone know if they suspect this Corona flu will be seasonal and phase out in the summer as the "regular" flu does?

I posted something probably 30 - 50 pages ago
from a researcher at Harvard on this topic. Long story short, probably not. He went over a number of logical reasons as to why, at least with this 1st wave, there probably won't be a significant seasonality to the spread.

Buy it and return it later just to troll them.

I doubt it is Coronavirus. The problem is people that get it with mild symptoms may go to work. I work in a building with 1000 people. All it takes is for one person sneezing on an elevator. Then they take it home and the kid has it the kid goes to school and infects other kids. All before symptoms hit hard enough to go to the doctor. It's here. We will survive tho. Allergy season is here too. I think it ramps up quickly and then goes away by may. Not gonna be a fun month

China reports only 35 deaths today but there new cases are up for the 2nd day in a row with daily total 575.
Posted on 2/29/20 at 6:37 pm to Volvagia
Vol, Thanks for being a voice of reason. I'm an ICU RN and all this reporting of 1 death here and 1 there is way out of proportion. People die every day in ICU on the vent. I think some of this is a group of people are using this situation to promote a certain agenda. Peace out, wash your hands, and if sick stay home.
