I'd start it, but people would just complain about me not updating the OP.

I heard someone in Oregon died from Coronavirus today. So if I’m right that makes the current score....

Coronavirus 1
Influenza 16,000+

Where’s the influenza megathread? I mean if I’m gonna spend my effort shitting my pants over a virus, I’m at least going to do it over the one that’s a real threat.
Can you stupid motherfrickers stop saying this dumb arse shite?

The concern with this virus is the unknown factor that comes with it. We have vaccines for the flu. We have nothing for this virus.

It also appears to be much more severe than the flu. Can you not see why people are worried about it?

The goal is to contain this virus before it becomes a big deal. Once it becomes a big deal many will die

Houston and New Orleans have been modeled as high risk for importation and it's already in Massachusetts. So probably hard to keep it from spreading in NE. Denver is another high risk for importation city and wouldn't take much to get into Wyoming. The Dakota's and Montana are possible clear zones.

Yeah, they fail to understand that 26 million people in the US alone get the flu yearly. If it had a 2% mortality rate like this virus (it’s around 520k of people would die from it). That’s nothing to compare or even downplay.

You’re gonna ruffle the wishcaster feathers with this. It’s worse than Q and a hurricane thread combined in here.

But this virus doesn't have a 2% mortality rate.

It’s already at a 2.3 with limited data coming from China and it’s more of an example to shut the flu comparisons down. The flu isn’t even a 0.01% at this point.

My point is people have a valid reason to be concerned. I’m not saying a full on panic.

Because they are only testing the sickest of the sick. Chances are many more people have Covid-19 than have been tested, this lowering the mortality rate.

First part isn’t surprising, second is interesting...

The man who died was in his 50s, had underlying health conditions and no history of travel or contact with a known COVID-19 case, health officials in Washington state said at a news conference.

From China, 74,000 cases and 2,000 deaths (do the math and you’ll see your number isn’t close). This is coming from the epicenter of the breakout, but continue to compare the US statistics.

I hear you, I’m not preaching this is the end of times. But the flu comparisons aren’t realistic, this is an entirely different thing. The real test of time will obviously be what happens here in the next couple of months.

I don’t think it’ll even be as bad as the flu but who knows.

Also, the Flu dated Ali Landry .... Coronavirus is a virgin.

What? Flu happens every year. How is this not as bad as the flu? At the least, it’s causing widespread panic. 30 ppl died in Italy and 1000 infected in one week. If that occurred here, would you be saying the same thing?
