Swine flu was widespread in the US - anywhere from 22-55 million cases. Killed over 10k. Don't remember much changing for me in 2009.
True, I think he's comparing the responses though. I traveled abroad in 2009, and the only noticeable thing was the temperature body scans they had at airports.
The response to this has been closing things outright. Whether that policy continues in a US spread event is to be determined.
In any event, after dealing with Katrina as well, it's probably just good practice to have a couple weeks of food and water set aside.

Using 22 million with a 2% death rate would mean nearly 440,000 deaths within a time period of 2-3 months. I think that would cause quarantines, disruption of “normal” life, etc.

Update on some of the factories I directly deal with in China:
All are back up and running, although none are at full capacity yet. One factory is starting a full schedule starting today. No one I deal with or their families has been affected. (according to them at least) It looks like most of my shipments will be between 3 to 6 weeks late if nothing else changes. Some quotes if you are interested:
Okay, I made the last one up.
I know we are not getting the full story out of China, but I have no reason not to believe my vendors when they say they are back up and running. Hopefully there are no other setbacks there.

Where is their factory located? Our sandpaper factory in Hubei is still shut down and will be for at least a few months.
Posted on 2/25/20 at 2:09 pm to Honkus
The one that just started full days is located in Zhejiang. The others are in Qingdao, Jiangso and Xiamen.
I think the closer you get to Hubei, the longer it will take to get the factories up and running again. I have no idea, just my guess.

Iran's deputy health minister got sicker at a press conference
Dude really looks bad off in the video in the link above. Supposedly he's now been placed in quarantine.
Only time will tell how much truth is in these statements.

Iran's deputy health minister has tested positive for coronavirus amid a rapidly worsening outbreak in the Islamic republic today.
Iraj Harirchi was taken into quarantine just a day after sweating heavily at a press conference where he insisted that the outbreak was not as bad as feared.
The virus's spread into the health ministry is the latest sign of Tehran's faltering efforts to contain the outbreak.
The regime has refused to seal off the holy city of Qom at the centre of the crisis even as pilgrims spread the virus around the Middle East and Iranians face shortages of masks and testing kits.
Only time will tell how much truth is in these statements.

Just so we're clear, the confirmed cases were much lower than 22 million. You can't take laboratory confirmed mortality rates and apply it to estimates of total cases.
That being said, yes 440,000 deaths would be a problem in the US.

Understood, and don’t disagree. Just saying that a large amount of cases with a 2% mortality rate would be far different from the swine flu

It appears that some of these shithole countries just don’t care if this thing knocks off a lot of thier elderly population.

People are fricking nuts. Check out this YouTube comment. tl;dr - The virus only causes a problem if you eat pork. So the Jews and Mooslems are behind it.
Don’t waste your time but posted for the curious.

86daily You and only a few others are my sources. I have insider info that sounds too crazy to post but there is no choice, it must be said.
I'll try to keep it brief: There is a binary poison that is aerially spread that is a long duration neurotoxin that has pork as one half of the binary. It is extremely potent. If you get even a small whiff and then eat pork, the symptoms are the same as COVID-19.
This poison is a super histamine trigger that causes your lungs to fill with phleghm. High doses cause greater symptoms, up to seizures. Once you get nailed by it, (if you survive) it stays in your system strongly for two years and fades out over a decade and if you stop eating pork, it will go inactive. This could be what "coronavirus" in China really is and would explain why people "recover" and then get slammed again.
AT PRESENT, THIS HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED IN THE UNITED STATES BUT IT IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING TO KNOW ABOUT.
How hard is it to avoid pork? Not hard at all.
This post was too brief, there's a LOT more detail on this topic but I am worried it will sound "too crazy" to post. I'll say this: What better thing could there possibly be for those who eat Kosher? BONUS: It won't work on Muslims either because they don't eat pork. They're supposed to be the ones taking over, RIGHT? Just listen to the visceral dietribe coming from the "tribe" right now, they want traditional white Western types dead and replaced with third world Muslims. What better way to do it than a binary poison that won't nail Jews or Muslims?
Think about that.
Your lungs will phleghm out and you won't have a fever at all. In some cases you could even be "asymptomatic" and drop dead but usually there's a long period of obvious symptoms.
This has replaced the previous post, I found a better way to say it. I am worried this sounds too crazy, but the poison is DEFINITELY real, and it is VERY potent, a few 2 liter bottles dispersed in a city would do the trick.
I know Chinese intelligence reads this site. And I hope they run tests of this and then take appropriate action. Here are the details: In mild/moderate poisonings, discontinuation of all pork in the diet will cause symptoms to fade within two weeks. If someone is poisoned with this then eats pork, they go right back to full symptoms. Testing this is how a poisoning can be confirmed.
If this ends up testing out in China, remember what the Bible says about who takes Israel out!
I have not received any notice that this poison was released en masse in China, but it is definitely something to know about and China had damn well better be running tests on people to see what happens, STAT.
The WHO has stated there is a "narrowing window" to contain the outbreak
Reality: There is no "narrowing window", if this virus is real, they are 17 plays into making it happen globally. The "narrowing window" was the day before the first time I posted that air traffic to and from Wuhan was normal. That was well over a month ago. IF the virus is real, they want it to be as "real" as possible, their actions have already proven that in spades. 2 days ago
Don’t waste your time but posted for the curious.

It's a she. And I'm just passing along information. You can speculate however you wish....I think I will know if they are feeding me crap if my shipments don't move in a few weeks.

Why would something with a 0.025% mortality rate disrupt your life? I haven’t seen anything suggesting a mortality rate in that neighborhood for this virus.

I guess the fact that the Iranian Health minister has tested positive for it means he's not following the muslim diet.

I don't really know or care about your shipment status. The part of it not having any effect on people outside of Wuhan seems to be blatantly false though.
Why the frick is Disney closed down there in Hong Kong/Shanghai going on a month if so

I can't figure exactly what the Chinese govt has been trying to accomplish, but it seems they may have decided that their handling was potentially a lot worse than the disease. You don't shut down a billion person economy for long unless you want a purge.

My biggest concern at this point is economic. My company is essentially shut down in Asia. Which means we're not making money from a huge part of our revenue stream.
It's starting to trickle over to other regions now too.
I may survive the virus but may not have a job when it's all said and done.

Which is frustrating, because only 80,000 or so people have the disease it of a world pop of 7 billion
Fear of the virus, not the actual virus, is bringing down economy

There is also a vaccine and the mortality rate is much lower. People will panic when they hear there is no treatment.
