Another pump and dump or the real deal?

ETA: Jesus the media doesn’t even do basic research anymore. This companies website is a joke. They have typos on the first page. No fricking way they have a vaccine

A mere 15 cases of the Wuhan coronavirus have been diagnosed in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and that number hasn’t budged in a week. But the true number of cases is unknown, because the U.S. is testing only those who recently arrived from China or have been in close contact with confirmed patients. Public-health authorities need to be prepared for a wider outbreak.

The numbers are now outdated since the article was published yesterday. There are some non-peer reviewed papers out there on open source sites that have tried to look at influenza like illness (ILI) that test negative for the flu and compare this season's data to past seasons. As of a few days ago, there didn't appear to be anything in the data suggesting a surge in undetected COVID19 cases in the US.

From BNO, and much like Iran, many of these new cases are in critical condition. Maybe countries were tracking these as ILIs and are now realizing they are COVID19?

the WHO

Am I in minority think these guys suck? All I remember from them is declaring world health emergency too late, praising Xi and China, changing the name to Covid19 after everyone was using “coronavirus”( like we need more confusion), saying viruses more dangerous than terrorists.

WHO spends annually $200mil in lavish travel expenses, which is more what they shell out to battle health issues.

You know that this coronavirus isn't the only one there is? SARS and MERS are both coronavirus as well as many other examples that are not covid19.

Article just published in Lancet (very respected journal)

This is a study of a Wuhan hospital
710 patient admitted for coronavirus
146 developed pneumonia

52 then became critically ill (defined as admission to ICU for mechanical ventilation or low oxygen saturation... slackster )

This study will look at those 52 critical patients...

37 needed mechanical ventilation
only 23 got antivirals
32 patients died

quote:

However, the mortality rate in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection in our cohort is higher than that previously seen in critically ill patients with SARS.

quote:

The mortality of critically ill patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia is considerable. The survival time of the non-survivors is likely to be within 1–2 weeks after ICU admission. Older patients (>65 years) with comorbidities and ARDS are at increased risk of death. The severity of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia poses great strain on critical care resources in hospitals, especially if they are not adequately staffed or resourced.

It is interesting that only half got antivirals. If the new antiviral being tested right now is somewhat effective we would have a huge advantage here in the states

also interesting, none of the critical patients were smokers

4.5% of patients admitted to the hospital died

Yes, it’s a whole family of them. But no one was calling them coronavirus during their time. Like a family of cats. There’s the lion, tiger, cheetah, leopard, etc. Then there’s the cat. Everybody uses “cat” for the pet version. There’s no confusion. We don’t need to change its name to “PetCat”.

They were attempting to move the name away from WuhanVirus to appease China

Can we finally get Slackster to admit The CCP is fudging the numbers?

I don't think they intentionally lied about numbers, especially not to the extent people in here were suggesting. People said there were 100,000 cases a month ago and we're still not there yet.

I've spent alot of time in this thread pointing out why it's hard to get accurate numbers, which is not the same as lying about numbers. I've also said we fsn look outside of China and debate those numbers as much as you'd like, but few wanted to do that because they told a much more subdued story.

I am very very angry with governments all over the world for letting this thing spread

Just a massive failure from top to bottom

Also, frick unsanitary people who are not considerate of others.

frick people who don’t wash their hands, who don’t carry purrell with them.

This could have easily been prevented if people were smart.

You clearly never understood the point of en exponential regression in the first place.

I stopped posting them because the case definition changed. There is no point in using a regression to model data when the definition of that data is different within the set.

Modeling laboratory confirmed cases is one thing. Modeling symptomatic cases is another. You can't use the model for one to predict the other with a novel virus.

Thank you for pointing out I was right. "Serious" condition =/= ICU patients all the time, which was the original argument.

Not even close. The argument was about patients being unstable and what that meant, but lets not rehash that. I was simply defining the criteria in this study so you didn’t misinterpret it.

The point of it was to give China a way to report believable numbers.

bullshite. Any decent Specialist will sham their way out of any duty that calls for person to person contact. "Sorry, Sarnt, I have an appointment..." The E-4 Mafia will remain intact while the rest of the world burns.
