The guy who posted the video clarified and said that the video had to do with a family who got carbon monoxide poisoning and apologized for linking the video with the coronavirus.
The original tweet's intended message was to show that there is currently a shortage of body bags. Misleading, but still tragic nonetheless.

One politician has the balls to speak directly and frank and you talk about treason. Make an definitive remake about the virus, well it isn't a level 4 so it can't be a bioweapon. How do you know where is your intel?You don't have any.

I didn’t say it couldn’t be a bioweapon based on that.
I just said it being the only BSL4 in China is completely irrelevant to this agent. Literally the only basis used to call it a bioweapon.....doesn’t apply.
Wouldn’t you rather do your bioweapons testing at a BSL3 facility completely under control of the military instead of a civilian one?

I know. I *fully* expect pandemic flu to cause a major societal breakdown in my lifetime. Evidence doesn’t support this being the one, no matter how much certain people really, really want it to.

I definitely been a lot more consistent in my stance than the doomsdayers in the thread who first thought China was doing too much in response to the virus...followed by the same ones saying they did entirely too little 96 hours later because the blogs told them so.
I am taking it seriously (see above about stashing food). What I am *NOT* doing is taking every twitter post or non peered reviewed paper as truth just because.
Hell, it literally happened on this past page, where any shots of body bags is assumed to be from coronavirus.
This thread is FULL of false tweets where the original poster recanted or other posters debunked but the original false rumors persist.
But I’m not going to get into a back and forth. If you post something self contradicting again, ill call it out. (As I’ve been correctly called out for being wrong before. ) It’s nothing personal.

Typical long OT thread where good intentions and information devolve into posters arguing with each other. Since this is such a serious situation, lets just keep this civil and stick to the relevant info such has how is it spreading, how fatal is it and how can we defeat it.

I guess you didn’t read the post...lengthy one I know but already there.
Ultimately though, keeping this thread informative involves debunking bald faced falsehoods, and explaining it here. Sometimes that bruises egos...which is confusing because often they aren’t even the ones saying the false viewpoint. They are just repeating it. I guess they have a couple grand in freeze dried food about to expire.

Literally only way to defeat it is to limit interpersonal contact and go into preemptive quarantine. Make it so you don’t have to go out for any reason.
But we aren’t at the point of that being at all a legitimate concern. Just be aware, with the pent up hysteria, if we do hit that point, grocery stores will get wiped fast. They aren’t built to be able to handle surges in demand.

So is this scarier or less scary than Ebola and others like it, or is it the same where it will ravage third world countries but be more or less contained in the biggest countries in the world?

From my understanding it seems to be less scary than ebola, but concerning enough to stay informed.
Biggest risk (from my perspective) would be the potential to have our health care system overrun and sudden panic.

It’s analogous to the common flu, with a far higher presentation of pneumonia than typical. On average, which is presently getting skewed by the cases in the Hubei province which is far more pervasive and lethal for an unknown reason, here is the behavior we are seeing:
Each person infected infects in turn two or three others on average.
One out of every five of those infected require hospitalization.
Of those, 15% die.
Overall mortality of those infected is around 3%
It has been fully expected to become a pandemic for nearly a month now. When that label starts becoming bandied by the MSM, it’s not an escalation or indicative in of itself of a deteriorating situation. Just part of the process.
If this does go bad here, it will be in the form of the higher than normal infectivity causes hospitals to be overwhelmed by cases resulting in not being able to provide the standard of care, in turn causing a sudden spike in mortality.
There is no reason as of yet to believe China is hiding 100k dead. (The SO2 emissions maps are similar to this time in previous years debunking the claim it’s from crematoriums running 24/7)
There is no reason as of yet to believe this is a bioweapon, the claim of which seems based on two points:

The claimed inserts (which would have no logical reason to believe would cause any benefit to add) are very short sequences found in hundreds of genes across many types of viruses, including the types of viruses from the suspected source. HIV just happens to be on the list.

Still to early to say. Some say it’s peaked others say it’s the tip of the iceberg. At minimum it’s going to kill 10k Chinese.
What’s going on in Wuhan is bad and if that happened everywhere it would be a disaster. However the data outside of China continues to be reassuring. I’m less concerned than I was a couple of weeks ago. However, the big naysayers in the thread have started prepping.
