But if you retest as positive does it mean you’re contagious?? The guy from the cruise ship tested positive like three weeks and more after originally diagnosis. The rna/whatever was still shedding let the tv report.
Do we know (how would we know) if a follow up positive = contagious??

The general population will still include old people, and it will include people too old to go on a cruise. And it will still include the large chunk of obese with uncontrolled comorbidities.

Hence why IMO, this isn’t any more deadly than the Flu. The Flu is more likely to kill younger and healthier than this is proving to be.
Have said that, this is more contagious.
However, once we have a vaccine, this thing will be a blip on the radar.

True, but I think US cfr will struggle to get down below 0.5 percent due to that. I get the impression on the OT that when many post “general population” they’re subtracting a substantial chunk out of the denominator.

It is an addition of a large chunk that is currently removed from the denominator because we don’t know everyone who has had the disease.
Currently, we only know a small number who has the disease.
By applying the general population concept, you are adding an assumed number of undiagnosed/asymptomatic patients that exist.

We have 77 residents in the nursing home where I work .. more than 20% of our people have tested positive and three are now in the hospital; one recorded fatality thus far.
My heart is so sad for them and their families.

Guess you haven’t kept up with what other companies are doing... no bonus, no 401k, no vacation, mandatory 20-50% salary decreases, etc..
It’s not that drastic. Everyone has a choice, don’t work there then

I guess I’m just sheltered then.
My place of business as basically did the opposite. Benefits not only remained, but they guanranteed pay for corona related events/shutdowns.
Peers at other companies have been offered 4 figure bonuses if they collectively can avoid getting sick and keeping the facility operational for the duration.

I work for a DoD contractor which is fairly insulated from COVID-19, or so I thought. We've recently been told that our parent company has taken on huge losses (from what, I'm not sure exactly) and they plan on cutting "indirect costs" and to "be prepared" because "everything is on the table"
Guess I'll stay tuned to what that means.

You’re 100% sheltered... I know of nobody in Houston or in my network getting that treatment. Most have been furloughed and/or been forced to take 25% salary reductions in the interim.
Things are bad, especially for small business since congress won’t find the PPP further. It’s either major cost cutting or layoffs.

Those are extremely rare circumstances.
Very few industries have seen an uptick in demand during all of this.
