But the female cops and limp wrist fairy men would not be able to handle the recoil. They better stick with 9 mm.

But the bear spray is the absolute best thing to have on you in case of a charging grizzly, much greater odds of survival. Hunters that are killed by grizzlies always have handguns and high powered rifles on them too

Every bear encounter in Yellowstone is followed up by a forensic investigation to make sure grizzlies aren't being shot needlessly. You can read these reports online. Lot of accounts of bears charging even after getting sprayed in the face with bear spray.

That's where the plan B gun comes in. As one guide put it "you need a round powerful enough to shatter bones to physically stop a grizzly before it gets to you. Only a few guns that can consistently do that. The .44 mag, S&W .500, 12 guage, and .357 mag (although even that one you need to have good shot placement and get lucky).

Bottom line is I'm not going into the back country there without both bear spray and a gun with a shite load of stopping power.

I think for crime to really drop down we should use a 12 gauge shotgun. Anyone associated with criminals will be brought down with them

Nah. My go to climbing stand (in the woods, not a food plot) is my Ruger Super Redhawk. Accurate to 80-90 yards which is farther than most shots in the woods.

The 7.5" barrel accommodates a scope and the extra weight result in little lift of "kick like a mule".

Killed many deer with it over the years. Easier to climb tree with it instead of a rifle.

I would not want to carry it as a LEO though, its heavy as hell and very cumbersome.

A 44 magnum is only about 5 decibels higher than a 9mm.

It's a logarithmic scale though.

I want to go backpacking in Yellowstone but I need to shell out for a .44 mag to feel even halfway safe with all the Grizzlies up there.

If you do, don't just carry some regular hollow-points from the gun store. You'll need to go online and order some specialty dangerous game ammo. The others might not give you enough penetration on bears.

Opposite for me. I prefer law enforcement to be yes men, rule abiding people.

I love it when I'm watching a movie, and a character is having a shootout with one........and only firing it with one hand.

I have a short barreled .500

It's not THAT bad.

I would imagine the .50 is much milder.

Tell me you don't understand dB without telling me you don't understand dB. It is a logarithmic scale so "only" a 5 dB increase results in 3.16 times the acoustic energy.

Law enforcement should be carrying a better version of the maxim 9, integrally suppressed. Their rifles should also have cans even if running supers

Police got away from the 10mm because officers couldn't shoot it well, and you want to strap them with .44 mags?

I shot a lot of guns that "kick hard" by most peoples standards. It takes A LOT of practice to get good at it, and no matter how good you are you can't overcome physics. Follow up shots take much much longer vs lighter recoiling guns...

In other words, recoil is not good

I dropped over 2k rounds through a Milspec 1911 over two days dropping mags in the Georgia dirt/dust to do reloads on a the move, and never cleaned anything on purpose.

Not one misfeed was not my fault (mag seating, etc.) It's made me lazier, because everything feels like an AK/SKS.

And 10mm/.40S&W can F off. Far less kick from .45ACP 230g than a .40S&W carry load, even from a 3.3" barrel vs a Sig with a 3.9" barrel.

Most cops spend less time at the range than even the hobbyists here. Not a good combo for 10mm/.44MAG/.50DE. They needs lots of rounds because they generally can't shoot shite.
