Nah. Glock 17 holds 17 rounds in a standard mag
If nothing else, he should've been schooled by my boy Nate Dogg and went with "sixteen in the clip and one in the hole."

Quick question for anyone who might know the answer. Is there some type of across-the-board standardization in police training, or is it completely up to the city/state/municipality?
Just curious, because I would imagine some police forces get a lot better training than others.
It depends.
Federal and AF OSI/NCSI go to FLETC, thats about as standard as it gets. Each State has its own academy for state level and local has its own.

Here's a key part. Read this this morning

But what police didn’t realize before they started shooting at the Volvo is there was a second man in the car –Corsini Valdes –who had committed no crime.
And in fact,as CBS4 News was the first to report, both men inside the Volvo were unarmed at the time police caught up with them. All of the gunfire came from police.

As shitty is that is, its wrong place wrong time. Don't hang around people who rob stores at gunpoint.

I'd love to hear the radio recording leading up to this. Once a cop is killed, they go nuts...steroids rage kicks in and the shaved head neanderthals are going to shoot someone. It's nothing more than a mob of armed morons out of control
Are you serious? He shot a cop. I would have loved to put a bullet in his head as well

Earlier that night, the driver of the Volvo, Adrian Montesano, robbed a Walgreens at gunpoint, and then later shot Miami Dade Police Officer Saul Rodriguez in a nearby trailer park.
its almost like you left this part out on puropse...
You still can't go in guns blazing just because you feel a certain way. If that were the case, murderers on trial could be shot by an upset family member or other ridiculous situations like that..
btw, I am very happy the perp is fricking dead...but do it right, if one or 2 guys would have shot each a couple of times this would be an open and shut case and the city would save us thousands of dollars by not having to feed this scum 3 squares a day for 40 years.
If this isn't proof that every cop out there is itching to shoot at anything on any moments notice, then nothing is.

So every single one of them had a Glock 17?
Point being, there were probably a few that didn't unload. They could've just shot two or three times. Hell, some of them might not have shot at all. There is almost no situation where that many of rounds would be needed, even out of 5 magazines

So not only did they kill 2 unarmed men, but the endangered the lives of innocent civilians WHO WERE IN THIER HOMES. I agree that the perp who committed the robbery and killed the cop deserved to be put down, but not at the expense of another mans life and not if you put any innocent bystanders at risk. Firing 350+ rounds and endangering civilians in their homes is completely unacceptable.

sure I'm serious...who cares if he shot a cop as opposed to anyone else? Cops are actually pretty far down on the list of people who contribute something positive to society. Why is shooting a cop any more important than the barber, plumber, or hardware store owner? And please don't respond with the BS about putting their life on the line for the community...the only thing the vast majority of them put on the line is the signature of people who don't have a current inspection sticker.

Basic rule of gun safety: Clearly Identify your target
I dout 377 trigger pulls were at a clearly defined point on a target. If you empty a magazine you should be providing cover fire or shooting at someone charging at you on face chewing bath salts.
This whole thing is wreckless

I agree with that.

I don't know - if they all had 9mm pistols (presumably with the number fired) - and no one changed magazines - that is about right, 16 or 17 rounds each.
(With standard, factory supplied magazines) Beretta 92F is 15+1, Sig P226 is 15+1, G17 is 17+1 and M&P would be 17+1 (+1 indicating a loaded chamber AND a topped off magazine). With extended magazines, even some .40 S&W can approach these capacities before needing to reload.

quote:so him shooting a cop justifies these cops endangering the public by unloading 377 rounds of like it is the wild west? I understand being mad that he killed one of their own but they responded by endangering even more people.

Likely. It is standard issue for LEO
The ones who weren't firing that were probably firing ARs with 30 round mags

Wow, that means that, on average, each cop shot 16.4 shots. Must've been some serious reloading going on
That is only one 9mm mag a piece.

This is not the way a civilized society behaves. We now live in a police state. This is what one would expect to see in Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, or Africa....but now it is very common for local police forces to behave like little 3rd world armies, or the SS.

Time for politicians to pull the teeth from the dogs.
I don't care if the criminals shot a cop, there is no excuse for what happened here. We are supposed to have a judicial system to determine guilt or innocence and delivery justice.
The most frightening aspect of these dime-store cowboys playing army is that so many Americans don't see problem with it. What I really don't understand is why the national media is all over this frightening new 'normal'. They're generally whiny liberals who should love bashing law and order types. Why is everyone so unconcerned about this?
ETA: Oh, I forgot, everyone is too worried about some old guy having a racist private conversation with his girlfriend, or some movie star's new marriage, or whether gays had their feelings hurt about what someone said.

CBS4 News has learned a total of 23 officers fired a total of at least 377 rounds.
Bullets were sprayed everywhere. They hit the Volvo, other cars in the lot, fence posts and neighboring businesses. They blasted holes in a townhouse where a 12-year-old dove to the ground for cover and a four month old slept in his crib
I understand the adrenaline rush. First time I ever went squirrel hunting I shot a squirrel 5 times with a 12 gauge.
