Legalize weed. There are many positive health benefits offered by weed, and few (if any) negative health benefits. Anyone who is a bum from smoking weed would be a bum regardless.
Coke, while a hell of a drug, is far too addictive to let anyone just obtain. Plus half the fun is the secrecy.

I say decriminalize possession.
I mean zero laws on having it over the age of 18, like cigarettes. Then criminalize the use of it when people or property are affected or put at risk.
This takes away the black market profit motive. Buy and sell all you want. Nobody cares. Drug dealers are a licensed businessperson just like a florist.
But any crime done under the influence gets you the added charge for impairment from use of the drug.

The war on drugs has been a collosal failure and has cost us billions if not trillions of dollars with little benefit. End it.
You are good at spitting back information cnn or other "news" channels say.
Fact is, infinite amount of money, tax payer money, is spent treating the heroin, meth, and other hard drug users. It is more than just the people. It is the resources needed for the crimes they commit, the amount of damage done to personal property, and the amount of damage done to their health.
Even if all drugs were legal, which is just obtuse to even consider, the copious amount of dollars needed to help the addicts would be staggering. And if legal, the dollar amount would be even more staggering from every aspect of society- but it all boils down to economics. Production loss, lost wages, health care costs, etc would skyrocket.
Go to any charity hospital emergency room- lsu health new orleans and lsu shreveport are the two i am familiar with, but pick any one in the country- and you will see where billions, if not trillions is wasted just on the health care side.

This sounds good on paper.
Worked for alcohol (see:prohibition)
Big difference- <5% of alcohol drinkers are alcoholics.
>95% of heroin users are addicts.
That stat alone tells you why many drugs cannot be legal

how can one make a drug policy if they never smoked the chronic?
Posted on 7/6/18 at 4:27 am to magildachunks
On one hand I’d like to see marijuana legalized just so everyone will shut up about it. On the other hand, when there is a certain criminal that’s causing havoc and too street smart to slip up, you know you can always get him with a blunt on a traffic stop. People are much more likely to snitch on a thief or violent crime suspect when he is in jail on a parole violation for weed possession than if he is out on the streets
Cocaine is way too addictive. There are enough thieving crack heads out there stealing flat screen TVs to support their addiction. I fear legalizing possession would only create more addicts
Same with other hard drugs.

The Portugal experiment rebutts your points.

Cocaine doesn't need to be accessible like it was from 1880-1920 again.
But currently three is no such thing as misdemeanor possession of cocaine.
A tiny amount and you are a felon.
That's something that should be changed, I think.
Legal? No.
It's too.addicting.

It’s also their job to write tickets for everyone who speeds, runs lights/stop signs, or doesn’t wear a seat belt. Yet many just give warnings
Police are given discretion on Traffic Codes...not as much with other criminal codes.
Its one thing to crush a joint into the ground but when you have a bag of weed it gets more problematic for them.
Most cops aren't going to chance disciplinary action to give you a warning.

I don’t know why we have to claim a war on everything.

Wtf do call someone who smokes week right now against the law?
I mean like if someone is normal and works then they aren’t a criminal but if they live in the ghetto and don’t work the cops should stop and frisk and arrest them

Mandatory drug tests for anyone on a form of government welfare. (Everything from Pell grants/tops to housing assistance/food stamps)
Also drug test those seeking medical treatment, failed drug tests results in ineligible for medicare.
The only way I will ever be on board with this is when they start testing elected officials and government employees first. Sorry but I don't buy the go after the poor people first mantra. Politicians get paid by the government too.

For Medicinal Marijuana
On the fence, about recreational weed
Against Cocaine, Heroin, and Meth.
Cocaine is replaced by Meth....cocaine might not be much of a problem in the near future as Meth replaces it.

and this is supposed to be a bad thing? It's cheaper than housing them in jail by far.

Former deputy in BR 2 months ago before I had to move.
Nobody says cocaine should be legal. I dont mind it but don't want to deal with somebody on coke. Weed is 100 percent a different story. Meth, MOJO, heroin, all that and more sucks and can be an epidemic. Drug bust suck in general though bc there is alot you have to do with them

This guy gets it. I have an uncle that did drugs, and now he's a criminal.
Posted on 7/6/18 at 7:55 am to magildachunks
All drugs should be legal, we waste far to much money fighting drugs and creating illegal empires.
A few morons may try meth if it’s legal but anyone who wants to do any of those drugs are doing them now
