Reason

quote:

New life was injected into a free speech legal saga over an "I Eat arse" bumper sticker yesterday when a federal judge ruled that the expression might violate Florida's obscenity law and would thus be unprotected by the First Amendment. At the center of the odyssey is Florida man Dillon Shane Webb, who was pulled over in May of 2019 after Columbia County Sheriff's Deputy Travis English took exception to the sticker. Dillion declined to censor it on the spot, his vehicle was searched, and he was subsequently arrested and booked in jail for "obscene writing on vehicles" and "resisting an officer without violence." (The "resisting" in question refers to his refusal to alter the sticker's appearance at the officer's demand.)

The jackboots who arrested the guy should be forced to eat the sweatiest, hairiest arse in the county jail.

"I'm sorry you don't like eating donkey, it's delicious." Would that not be a valid defense to violating any obscenity law?

Florida is a huge state with a ton of people, there will be frickups like this. However, it was a federal judge who made this ruling, so I'm not sure there is a gotcha here

Judge Marcia Morales Howard

my lone time doing jury duty was under her. It was also a civil rights violation case vs cops. Flagler county that time, unfortunately not guilty.

It's not ignorance I don't think. Not even stupidity. It's trolling. I'm convinced it's just trolling

Sounds to me like the police were just trying to get him into jail to see if he, in fact, eats arse or just takes it.

I just don’t get sometimes why some officers don’t understand that this is why tons of folks hate them.

I support officers but dip shites like that are making it worse every day for officers.

If an officer is using, “don’t blame me, blame law makers”, “I’m acting in good faith”, “I’m just doing my job” in order to manipulate statutes, that officer is a massive POS.

Why hate the arresting officer when it was a Federal Judge that granted QI protection?

Isn’t that displaced anger.

He arrested a guy for having a crude sticker on his car. Frick him. Qualified immunity is a moot point if the cop in question isn't a complete douchebag on a power trip.

Columbia county bruh. It’s where the state prison is located so it’s the opposite of the bastion of freedom

I’m perfectly capable of being simultaneously angry at the arresting officer, the judge, and every police union that lies through its teeth anytime legislation comes up to reform the catastrophe that is the current state of the law regarding qualified immunity.
