I’m not sure how they justify saying it was not the time or place to discuss the allegations when the church specifically made it the time and place by reading a press release during mass.
That's a great point

"Please take a second. We want to put these rumors to rest. Can you answer this for me, fact or fiction?" McQuaide was heard saying in a video obtained by WCPO. Someone in the video is heard responding, "This is not the time for this," but McQuaide continues.
"I’m sorry, sir, this is the time and the place. I will stand up."
He was right, it was the time/place.

Poor taste by Jake McQuaide to do this during a Mass
Agreed…why would you cause a ruckus during an actual mass?

Does the clergy attract weirdos or do people become weird after entering the clergy?
Probably the former more than the latter given the stories about seminaries these days.

for the same reason you would have a mouthpiece for the Archdiocese reading a letter addressing the issue DURING an actual Mass.
I have reviewed the Liturgy of the Mass, and nowhere in there is a section for discussion of legal matters

I'm not doubting there are stories, but can you share some links on this?

Anecdotal, not news.
Just in general that the seminaries such as the one in NOLA have a high clip of flaming homo students.

You need to read up on your Church history if you think this is a new problem.

I have heard this is getting better. Certainly, most if not all of the younger priests I have come across the last ten or so years give me reason to hope the homosexual problem is being purged from the seminaries.

Well, I don’t think that should be done either. Mass is for praying. If there are political/social/fanancial issues to be discussed, that should all be done outside of mass…

The church opened Pandora's Box when they chose to address it during service.

Still doesn't change the fact that you thought it went back to Paul 2000 years ago.
The Holy Apostolic Orthodox Church is just as old as the Catholic church. They came up side by side, and there are many Orthodox parish priests with families who converted from protestantism (Catholicism, too), and our church is doing just fine — exploding in numbers, actually.
It's Papal primacy nonsense to make ALL persons in the priesthood be celibate. I have a cousin who's a devout Catholic and when younger he wanted to enter into the priesthood, but when weighing his options he realized he wanted to try and have a family. Today he is happily married and he and his wife are steadily having children. He would've been a fine addition to the priesthood.
This is not some "current" problem with Catholic clergy. To say such a thing ignores factual history.

A priest is allowed to discuss church issues during a homily or at the end
of a Mass after the Eucharist has been distributed.
A random participant in the Mass can not interrupt with their personal feelings

I didn’t read the background, but if this was a mass, it wasn’t the time or place.

Especially a long snapper. If you were QB1, RB1, WR1 maybe, but long snapper that didn’t even get drafted? You would figure he has a lot of practice sitting on a bench.

At least it was adult porn. That's an improvement I guess.
Media only focuses on the illegal ones - which should be the case, right?
