Sure it was a Great Dane, but also well known to the shooter and the neighborhood.

It’s almost comical at this point. Scumbag with a pit bull strolling through a neighborhood firing off rounds and killing family pets. I thought cops were supposed to prevent these types of incidents & arrest those responsible.

Looks like dog was loose
If cop had his dog leashed he had every right to protect himself & his dog

This is why there are leash laws

Did you even read it? Cop says the dane was unleashed and charged at him as he was walking by. Could be lying but I have no reason to take her word over his or vice versa.

But if you are going to let your dog roam free, you have to be willing to accept that shite can and will probably happen to him.

guy has a pitbull, and he's worried about a great dane.

This guy has always wanted to use that gun, he's been egging to pull it out and use it.

Who carries while walking their dog?

I'm surprised the cop didn't shoot his own dog.

Cops love to shoot dogs?

What more can you say?

Yes, I read the article. No, I do not believe the cop.

Maybe I have a bias against pitbulls & most owners of them are trashy & Great Danes are notoriously sweet dogs. I also don’t think an officer of the law should be killing family pets in his own neighborhood.

So you think dog owners walking their leashed dogs must now accept any injuries an unleashed dog causes them and not defend themselves because the unleash dog is someone’s family pet in his own neighborhood? Good luck with that.

If the dog was loose and charged after him or his dog then I do not see an issue with protecting himself or his dog. The owner should have kept his or her dog restrained. If they live in an area with leasch laws the dog owner should also be cited for allowing the animal to run loose by the proper authority for that area.

If the witness comes forward with different information that changes the story then my opinion would change. At this time if the person would have kept their dog restrained there would be no dead dog.

Dude, a dog will run up. She should have fired into the ground to scare the dog off.
It may not even have attacked. Dogs run up to my dog all the time and never had an attack.
Plus a pit bill will destroy a Dane.

My thoughts exactly. I was running with my Siberian husky (on a leash) one time and a small yapping dog came running off a porch and into the street. I shortened the leash as much as possible but the small dog kept coming. My husky took a bite out of its back and threw it across the street.

The crazy lady screamed and tried to say I was responsible and I should pay its veterinarian bill and my dog should be put down.

Luckily another neighbor saw the whole thing and supported what really happened when the crazy lady called the police.

The police were nice and did not shoot my dog.

Great Danes are the most gentle dogs. I’d be going to jail as a cop killer if that was my dog.

I have a 70 lb bulldog that's aggressive to other dogs... i take her running 3 times a week on a leash

At least once a week an unleashed dog runs out and wants to frick with my dog... my dog would kill 99 percent of them.

I pick my dog up and wait for the owner to get their dog... it's not that hard. I don't want to see any dog harmed.

A cop shooting a dog in that dogs yard is a POS and needs to get fricked.

Cops are too fat and lazy to pick up their dog, easier to kill anything that bothers them
