Is it really fair melt so hard over one rookie officer making a horrific mistake

he made a series of horrific mistakes

THEN he murdered an innocent civilian

do you give civilians who make "mistakes" and kill cops the same rope?

Drama queen?

Drama? A person is DEAD at the hands of people we pay to PROTECT us.

I never would guess being angry over an innocent life taken by a government hand would be seen as drama.

Why didn’t the chicken excrement neighbor go himself and check on the situation? I would have if I was worried about a neighbor of mine. Never call the cops unless it’s absolutely required.

The only nonrelevant part of that story is that she was black. Standing next to your window while some random person goes through your back yard is not a reasonable threat to the person outside. Of course what is reasonable or not differs depending on who is wearing the badge.

Imagine if this turned out differently.

Cop walks into a home, unannounced at 2:30am, with flashlight and gun drawn. Homeowner blows him away, because he/she was legitimately scared for their life. W

It is apparent that the DFW police department has some serious issues with training and hiring. This officer should be charged for murder, AND the upper leadership should be sacked and never work in law enforcement again.

that exact scenario has happened in TX a handful of times lately, primarily due to no knock warrants when cops don't announce themselves and get blasted b/c it appears to be a robbery to the resident. the innocent resident gets charged with murder, too

He should have absolutely busted into what he thought could be a robbery situation, if only there were a group of people who are paid to deal with these situations. and yes, that is sarcasm...

Sure, it’s the neighbors fault, not the people paid to protect and serve.

As was already mentioned, this happened in Fort Worth, not Dallas. There is no DFW PD. Dallas, Forth Worth, Arlington, McKinney, Plano etc etc all have their own separate PDs.

More information? Cop clearly passed judgement and shot an innocent person with body cam showing that. I’m all for backing the blue but nothing in that video shows that she should’ve been shot.

I'm going to wait for more facts to come out on this one. This whole story sounds crazy.

Agreed. We need to learn if there was marijuana in the “victims” house first

Neighbors need to stop being nosey and calling the cops for things.

Know your neighbor, fricking text them and say their door is open.

Cops stop being trigger happy assholes

Problem solved

Example #15868 that calling the police is often a terrible decision for your own safety/situation.

The rage I feel from seeing this and reading about the neighbor calling a non-emergency number for a welfare check is enough to make me say, "frick it; frick this country and frick saving it".

It is a shite hole. Ready for the collapse and reset. And we worship these men and women like they are some angels. Every damn radio personality, business, tv talk shows, etc... hell we pass laws to provide public money to those killed in the line of duty.

Well how about those you kill in the line of duty? You gonna put a law on the ballot for That? I'll gladly vote for it.

You earned this reputation. This was placed upon you. You earned every bit.

They were acting like criminals. If somebody was sneaking around by my bedroom window with a flashlight like that I would suspect criminals and they'd have a rifle aimed at them. Horrible horrible police work.

Exactly. I see someone sneaking around my house at night with a flashlight, the first that would happen is that I would arm myself until they are identified as a non-threat, be it a cop or someone out looking for a lost pet, etc.

Also, I don’t see indication that the cops had their lights on. I don’t know if they would normally be lit up in the situation, but they should be once they pull up.

I'm usually with the police, as their life can be ended by hesitation, but unless there is more to the story, I don't see a perceived threat based upon what is posted here.
