On the younger end of the spectrum.
Alex Bergman. I met him through Aaron Bola when they were roommates.
He was about as down to earth as I've come across. Granted this was his freshman year before he blew up.
Douchiest: definitely a tie between Jared foster and Ben Simmons. I can give Simmons a pass because at least he was guaranteed to get paid. Foster was just a prick.

I’ve had some opportunities to meet quite a few. One that surprised me was Roger Clemens. I hung out with him for 5-6 hours once at a golf tournament. Super cool and nice.
One of my favorites was Dale Earnhardt Sr. Unreal cool guy, I have some great stories.
Moses Malone once pushed my golf cart out of the mud.
Phil Michelson was just unbelievably nice at the SHO, I was just hanging out at the very back side of the scorers room, signed autographs for everyone that wanted one, then walked all the way down to talk to me. I was impressed.
Hung out with Kevin Faulk a few times, had a blast.
Gordie Howe was a real nice guy.

I haven't encountered many, but Deacon Jones was affable and a pleasure to talk with.

Met him in Oregon. We were standing outside our hotel waiting for our rides. I didn't say anything to him, but he noticed my Razorback tshirt. As he was getting in his car, he turned and gave me a "SEC" and a fist bump. The end.

would feel bad if I didn't share this. Walked into Jackson Airport one morning and saw Andre The Giant standing at the ticket counter. He had knee surgery a few days before that in Jackson and was flying out on my flight (or I was on his flight). He was looking pretty grim, on crutches looking like he was in big pain. This little black kid comes up with his grandparents and the kid recognizes Andre and goes crazy. Andre somehow manages to get down on his knees to get low enough to have his picture taken with his arm around the little kid. It looked like the bend was killing him, but he was so very nice about it. He almost never got up afterwards, but eventually did. Later, as I entered the plane (on my way to cheap seats-coach) he was in first class, taking up two seats with his leg cranked out as straight as he could get it. As I passed by I told him he was nice to take the photo with the kid at the ticket counter earlier. He just smiled and said "Thanks".
Long time ago. Still remember how nice that was.
You should've asked him if he wanted a peanut.

Mark Ingram probably the most down to earth. A guy I'd go fishing or hunting with.

Met Blake Bortles at a party last year and he was cool as hell.
Craig Biggio came to my HS years ago to watch his son play. Special needs kid from my school was there in a Biggio jersey and Astros hat. Biggio took pictures with him and sat with him the entire game talking baseball. Was always my favorite player growing up but that cemented the status.

Met some of the early Saints, Danny Abramowicz and Jimmy Taylor are the only ones that stuck with me. Taylor wasn't that big but he sure was fit, even at the end of his career.
Pistol Pete at a Jazz cheap group tickets game promo they'd run to get people to the Dome during the middle of the week.
1980's saw Rickey Jackson a couple of times at K&B early Sunday morning on game days. I was so excited the first time I guess my jaw dropped in disbelief, and he just smiled and nodded. Nice gesture on his part.
Derland Moore drank a beer with us fans at the local bar a few years after he'd retired from the Saints, cool dude very nice to all.
Steve Mizerak in Nola on a tour for Miller Lite. He didn't play matches mostly exhibition type games. You could tell the local sharks couldn't beat him. Entertaining guy.
Greg Norman and Jose Maria Olazabal at English Turn PGA Pro-Am. Our Pro was John Adams a tall, lanky guy hit the ball a mile and had a wizard short game. He dropped a lot around the green practicing. A super nice man.

Is he in the coolest category, or douche category? I've always heard he was a douche...
...then again for a lot of baseball people, Joe DiMaggio is one of those ones where he could frick your sister, crap on the hood of your car, drink all of your beer and you will still say he was "cool" to meet.
