This is always interesting to me because I go through the thought process of what I'd do. He's gotta shave immediately, then ditch the car. Then get another car. Then get as far away as possible. The farther he gets, the less heat there is.

You would probably need help and careful pre-planning to make it work.
Assuming this was a spur of the moment opportunity, your odds go down considerably if you're just winging it solo. To be honest, your best bet probably involves some type of fortuitous kidnapping which is why these situations are so dangerous.

I think best bet if it's unplanned is get as far away as you can on foot into the deep woods and move camp further away each night while erasing all traces of previous camps. Gotta have some survival skills though.
If you come upon some hunting camp or remote cabin, scope it out and break in if it's empty.
