A site scout for the netflix series Narcos was shot and killed while looking for places to film in Mexico. Never found the killers or knew the motive but police assume he was killed because he would have been taking pictures and filming locations for future scenes and the cartel likely took that as a threat and had him killed.

Not every Mexican state is dangerous. Maybe about 8 or 9 of them are (there's 32 states). I feel safer in Mexico City than I do in New Orleans, Atlanta, New.York, etc.

Mexico isn't that bad if you just live a normal life. Filming TikTok content in one of the worst cartel states is not a normal life though.
