Huntsville > Chattanooga.
Especially if you're GS/military.

Any reason other than being contrarian?

Chattanooga is the new trendy place.
Lots of little hip overpriced places to eat. Traffic sucks balls.
It's made a huge improvement from where it was 10-15 years ago. A lot of renovation and rebuilding going on. It has potential.
All the Amazon and Volkswagon money is in Cleveland which is just up the road. Check it out.

Cleveland is a nice area, but doesn't have the small City amenities that Chattanooga does. It is very spread out.

I’ve been there 3 times. Got the ribs every time and they were good every time.

Chattanooga would be great if they built a loop around it for through traffic.
It's in the middle of Birmingham, Nashville, Atlanta and Charlotte and it's a huge cluster driving on the interstate through there. I drive back and forth between Nashville and Atlanta all of the time and like clockwork, Chattanooga adds an hour to the drive either way because the traffic is so bad. I literally get out of Atlanta rush hour traffic twice as quickly as Chattanooga. Something has to be done to fix it. No lie, it might be worse than Baton Rouge traffic.

Absolutely 100% patently not true.

Seems only placces with decent weather in the summer are so fricking cold in the winter it's not worth it.

I went to Sugar's with a group of 4. Everything each of us got was overcooked. Brisket was like hash. You couldn't pick up th e ribs without the meat falling apart. Flavor was so-so.
The place has a vibe of a bad tourist trap. Way overpriced.

Asheville is just trendy now. They have a palatial Sierra Nevada brewery. Should be on everyone's must visit list.

We have an office in Chattanooga and traffic is always bad. Sometimes it's REALLY bad, though. And when I say sometimes, I mean almost every time I've been down there.
That being said, I really like the town, and would live there in the right circumstances.

Check greatschools.org for school scores even if you don't have kids. Think of the school scores as community scores.
not just the score, but the website actually provides a in depth breakdown on ethnicity % in each school as well as % of students on free or reduced price lunches. This paints a very accurate picture of the neighborhood makeup.

Have a friend that lives in ooltewah in the burbs and he absolutely loves it. Beautiful, basically no crime or culcha, great schools for his kids...says the people are kind of snobby but says he just acts better than them and ignores them

A number of people I know have bought 2nd homes and retirement homes in Chattanooga in the past 18 months. A few years ago the same crowd was heading towards Asheville, NC. I’ve heard Chattanooga has done quite a bit with its dowtownnand things are happening there. My concern is getting in too late. I would prefer to live downtown and not in the burbs. If remote living is what you are looking for you can do that anywhere and the closest city has little to with your choice for moving there.

Correct. There is a trove of useful info that will allow a person to choose a place to live.

the correct answer for bbq is charlies. All the meats are good. I don't love the sides but I just get brisket. No sides.

Don't eat at Sugar's or Urban Stack.
