Considering moving to Chattanooga

Only got a few more years with Uncle Sam and looking at Chattanooga for next stage in life. Been through there and loved the area, within a days drive of almost anything, moderate weather, low cost of living, and tons of outdoor stuff.
What am I missing - traffic? crime?
I've done a lot of research online but figured the OT would know best.

Dont forget you gots the Vawls up the road too.
East and west TN are definitely night and day...literally in all ways.
Not sure if it has a "meth" issue, but hard to get away from today anywhere in the south.

Yeah Memphis definitely isn't on my list.

I love Chattanooga. I’d do it.

Yeah. Wanted to make sure you knew that being an arky fan.
I went to school at UT, and would love to live in the area again. I think about it from time to, and chattanoga would be a great option. I will say it gets humid as f*ck in august/sept. Seriously almost left school not a month in it was so bad.
I really dont think you have crime concerns more than any other place.

I don't mind hot summers. Seems only placces with decent weather in the summer are so fricking cold in the winter it's not worth it.

Passed through there about 2 weeks ago and traffic was bad. Idk if that's a common occurrence or if something happened to back it up like that.

I'd live there.
The short drive to Atlanta and Nashville is a plus, too.

I wouldn't live anywhere else than New Orleans but to each their own.

It's a cool town. Traffic does suck, but that's pretty much the case for any larger city.

Check greatschools.org for school scores even if you don't have kids. Think of the school scores as community scores.

I'm a Chattanooga resident. There are a few of us here (including pecker if that deters you at all).
Traffic is typically pretty bad at rush hour times on most of I24 and at the 24/75 split.
Crime is pretty steady, but it generally is the gang crime so if you keep your nose clean, you should be fine.
Housing costs in the city are actually pretty high right now for what you get.
Food/bars/breweries are ticking upward as the city and surrounding areas are being gentrified. Part of the reason housing is expensive.
Love it here, but we may not be long term as the schools suck.

Chattanooga is a great town...but I would recommend living on the outskirts. My brother lives on Lake Chickamauga in Soddy Daisy. Easy drive into the city, while still having a lake that he can access deep water year-round.

You call that living?

I went to Look Out Mountain there. It was pretty cool. If worked allowed it, I'd move to Tennessee.

Not sure if you have kids, but apparently the public schools in Chatt are not good. Like, at all.

It’s a beautiful area. Lots of poor areas and traffi seems to always be an issue. I’d live there in a heartbeat. If you don’t want to live near the city you can find plenty of spots just outside that are cheaper and beautiful.
