For the year ending Jan. 31, the chain reported $903.7 million in product sales, compared to $986.6 million in sales for the fiscal year that ended Jan. 31, 2023.
Imagine your business generating these sales numbers and still not being able to turn a profit.

Ordered some items from them last year online and was going to use a 0% financing offer and free delivery by paying over a year.
They never called me on delivery day. I called the next day and they said it was out of stock at the warehouse and to place another order for one in stock. So the next delivery day came and went, no call. I just decided to cancel my order.
Might have been the best decision.
I stopped at their store in Houma. Not much inventory kept in the store. It had a Rooms to Go feel. You look at the merchandise and order it. We will deliver it to your house from our central warehouse in Port Allen. You can drive there to pick it up like Rooms to Go.

First Conns opened up here a few years ago, seemed liked they targeted the rent to own types of customers. Saw very few people actually go in the store

Sears went all out and bought Dean Witter in the late 80s. They tried to become a financial company and failed spectacularly. No comparison to this crap.

My last purchase from Conn's was a new fancy DVD player and the recently released Saving Private Ryan in 2000-ish. Every time I drove through BR (on the way to somewhere else,) I was always surprised that it was still open.
Yep, that's just like mythical monsters, it's just magic, nobody knows the cause, it just is. I hate lazy writing like this.

I always forget this place even exists.
I must not be the only one.

The one in Shreveport has had clearance sales for months now.

Conn’s going the way of Sears, Radio Shack, Circuit City, K-Mart, Wilson’s, Montgomery Wards, etc. Retail brick and mortar stores are having a tough go at it these last couple decades.

Their scratch n dent stores were legit.
I bought a washer and dryer set there 11 years ago and they both still purr.

forgot Conn's existed until a few weeks ago when my mom's washer went out and they were the only appliance store that actually had appliances in stock. Home Depot and Best Buy have to order everything and Lowe's only keeps a few pieces in stock for anything they are running sales on that week.
What about that place on East McNeese?

I've bought from them over the years and just bought 10\K worth of stuff last year. If they go under do I still have to pay it all off?? lol jk

C&C Appliance still there on East McNeese. Well stocked and good service, parts. Had a lot of damage from Laura, but rebuilt and doing great.

When my wife and I first got married they approved us for 10k for 72 months.
We took it and got all kinds of good stuff.
Folks were always nice at the Conns in Shreveport.

The last time I went in there the salesman was rude to me. I was inquiring about a built-in $8K Frigidaire fridge and freezer set up but I was in some old work clothes. I guess he figured I was wasting his time and couldn't afford it so I left and ordered a Kitchenaid instead. I won't bother them again.

The fact conn’s outlasted sears is a testament to the company.
Sears is still in existence. They are mostly online now but do have 10 brick and mortar stores still in existence.

They have zero online presence
They do but it is not something they try to guide people to for some reason.

I’m not saying don’t take a chance, but it better be $1k or under chance
I'd say that is sage advice. The business model Conn's uses seems better suited to local, hometown type of business and not a multiplication retailer in today's environment. I think pulling out of their tailspin may be difficult for them.

Long ago before digital was everywhere, I bought a compact digital camera from Conns,...first child was being born. We had a Conns 0 interest card.
Had a warranty and I out the end date into my calendar. Had issues w phone, got busy, but the calendar alert reminded me to return for warranty repair. Manager gave me shite and called corporate (I wanna say it was in TX) and said I shouldn't have waited till the last week of the warranty! But acknowledged it was still in warranty.
Had a 10 unit apartment we had ordered stacked washer dryer units for.....canceled the order and walked out.
Corporate called to salvage. NOPE..too late. Manager fired.
I sure hope I contributed to their downfall, my child is now 19, ??

Conn’s lead me to believe i had a job the summer before my first semester at LSU. They told me I’d be sent to Beaumont to train early in the summer. They went radio silent and it was a week before that training was supposed to start. I called and called and they kept giving me the runaround. Finally I got ahold of the manager only to find out there was no job for me.
So yeah… frick Conn’s!
