Rutgers may be a better job than LSU.

My understanding ( admittedly, from this board) was that ACT scores had been lowered and LSU academic standards were lowered.
I don’t think scores were lowered, but like many after the summer of love and covid ACT and SAT tests were no longer mandatory. Students could still submit them if they wanted which likely raised scores for many colleges as mostly the students who score well and think the score raises chances of admission were submitting them. This would make comparisons with prior years scores very difficult for any school that dropped that requirement which was a lot.
I want to say the tests have become mandatory part of admission process again at LSU like at some other schools, but I am not sure when that happened or even know for sure if that happened.

Tate wasn’t awful, but is severely overrated by most. The bar is so low that he cleared it but a ton of people link athletic success to academic improvements.
LSU has not improved much academically in his time as president and has significant funding issues before the Trump Admin’s threats to slash academic research funding.
In the end, he’s done a few good things but could easily be upgraded if a legit search is done.
With that said, it will be a clusterfrick with Governor Dipshit in charge.

Let's hope the search finds a good replacement.

Gov. Landry’s board picks strike again
Who has he put on the board?
I have only seen 2. One was on board before being placed again in 2024, and he was also the chairperson in the past before getting named that again this year. The other served 25 years in the U.S. Army JAG Corps and was a Biden pick to serve 3 years on West Point’s Board of Directors.
I don’t know anything about them other than the press releases with their appointments, but on paper they don’t seem to be horrible choices.

I was one of the people that had some questions given his background in CRT, but he did a very good job by all accounts.
LSU could certainly do worse

I don't get your reference, but another one with child penises on his mind.
This is a strange place.

I was skeptical of Tate after looking into him during the interview process before he got in, but he has been good for LSU and deserves credit.

This.
I expect the next guy will be a political payback placement with little or no experience.

I’m hearing it’s Letlow. That would open up a seat in the US House.

She has a PhD and was a finalist for ULM president a few years ago. It wouldn't be the worst ever choice, especially with Landry making the decision, but we could do a lot better.

I wish that LSU would go back to waiving out of state tuition for children of alumni that live out of state.
My youngest would probably choose LSU but its probably not in the cards because of out of state tuition. Meanwhile, Alabama and Arkansas are offering no out of state tuition. Plus Ole Miss is pushing hard in-state. LSU's scholarship offers to out of state students are not competitive with the rest of the SEC. They should at least try to do something to those of us who have degrees from LSU.

Does anyone have any EVIDENCE that the governor ran Tate off...or do just accept opinions as fact
