I know a lot of people hate Landry and I get it. But how many of you have children at LSU currently? I have two college age children. One is a soon to be Junior at LSU and one is about to be a freshman at Mississippi State. What I have seen over the last two years is that LSU doesn't give a frick about students. If a problem arises, you are completely on your own to figure it out. The faculty is lazy, often not showing up to class. Counselors are hard to reach. Our son was given a counselor who doesn't even work at the University anymore. When our youngest applied, she heard back from Mississippi State in a week. It took LSU 4 months to accept her. This is common among all of her friends, many of which decided to go out of state. I realize many of you love Tate, but LSU was bad enough for me to encourage my youngest to go elsewhere. And I'm an LSU graduate. We can do better.

This election was lost in the primary, when the State Republican Party inexplicitly endorsed Landry over everyone else running in his Party before that race even began. Are you suggesting suggesting his general election Democrat opponent would have been preferable, but people just blindly voted R?
That pretty much describes MAGA though. They’ve taken over the party so they’ll select that candidates they want who aligns with them and that’s how it’s gonna be for the foreseeable future.

With Landry at the helm, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Also, LSU has double the enrollment of MS State.

Tate has moved often, Rutgers will be his sixth place of employment, and this is the next step Rutgers is a top 50 public university with a much higher academic profile than LSU.

What I'm referencing regarding the State Republican Party apparatus in this situation really didn't have much of anything to do with "MAGA" but feel free to create whatever fantasy world you wish, I guess.

And LSU now accepts anyone that cam fog a mirror...

Fantasy is believing that MAGA has no effect on state level politics.

no they don't. Admission requirements are higher now than they've ever been

All the candidates were “MAGA” more or less, so I’m not sure how MAGA is the reason we are stuck with Landry.
Unless you’re saying not doing debates and instead only releasing carefully crafted sound bites/social media posts to portray a certain image is MAGA

I’ve heard more and more that colleges in general, but LSU in particular are taking in state students for granted and prioritizing going after our-of-state students and their higher fees and payments.

“MAGA” wasn’t the main driver for the LA GOP to do what they did. Sure, the endorsement from Don Jr helped Landry get access to even more donor support and publicity, I’m sure. However, he already had way more of a fundraising advantage and stored political cash than the other conservative candidates, even combined, and the LA GOP was desperate for access to any sort of fundraising they could get.

Can confirm. I’m very disappointed with LSU and really wish I would have encouraged my kid to go out of state.

Seems kind of racist…
It comes from LSU having the reputation as a athletic institution more than an academic one.

Both my kids had the opposite experience applying to LSU. Took longer for other schools to get back to them, including “little USL/UL”, which being an alum of that school ticked me off.
