This. I can't imagine a need to print at home.

Just 3D print it into metal sculptures with the words etched on them

I have had success with Brother laserjet printers over the years.
Just got one myself....Took a few rounds dealing with "error modes"- but it looks like it's going to work out.

Computer Printers are a Scam

1 - first you find a printer brand you like
2 - then you see what the replacement ink costs
3 - then you buy the printer with the most affordable replacement ink
buy the epson et-2800 and thank me later.
generic ink bottles can be used to refill the special ink bottles they use, and you will save a shite ton of money

you shouldve spent an extra $150 on the front end and bought an epson ecotank.
Very happy with mine so far. Easy to setup and a smaller form factor than my previous Canon.
I don't print a ton but when you need it, you need it. And the inkjet cartridge pricing is insane and you can't print very many pages off of those dinky cartridges.
The Ecotank system is well designed and easy to fill with no mess and also the tank levels are visible on the front of the printer.

Just noticing this?
Buying a fricking printer is often cheaper than buying the ink for it.

OT Ballers have our secretary call the CTO and the IT nerd shows up 2 minutes later to change out the ink.

One of the few things that can raise my blood pressure.

if you're doing it right, the printers call the place that sold them and they come by

Who mastered this scam first? Printers and their proprietary ink or Keurig and their proprietary pods?
I have had more than a few tops from pods cut off to put on top of a fake pod. I don't think the same works for printers

The old HP laser printers that weighed 75-100lbs and were not made of plastic were not shite! I still have some working after 15 years.
The newer ones, in the last 10 years, are all shite I agree..
I hate when my older office printer/copiers start going bad. I fell like I'm losing a good friend. Yes the newer stuff does neat things but it breaks more often. Everything is made for obsolescence now days. They don't last long now. For some locations away from office when I just need a simple cheap printer I can buy a $150 printer that uses toners and throw it away after 5 years.

The Gillette Mach 3 profit margins would like a word.

Now, the Cannon printer is miserable to use because it gives me error messages saying that I am using "Counterfeit Toner" - Ok, I can deal with a silly message BUT anytime I print anything, I have to manually sit there and hit submit on every single page.
Just be glad you don't have an HP printer.
HP used to just warn you, but now they will not print or scan as long as the counterfiet cartridge is in the printer.
All that tells the printer that it is a legit cartridge is a metal strip on a small board. It tells the printer nothing as far as how much ink is really in the cartridge, you can even rip it off, but the printer knows this cartridge has been spent so you cannot just transplant on a refilled cartridge.
The genius idea has to be from Epson with the Ecotank, but I haven't used it to see if it worth it.

Purchased a Canon Printer. It works great - $149.00
Bought a cheap POS printer, that's your real problem. I have two Brother multi-function laser printers, one for my house and put one in my parent's house since it works better than anything I've had since my old LaserJet 4000 finally gave up the ghost. Toshiba, Samsung, Canon...junk at the consumer level. Brother by far has been the easiest to setup as a network printer/scanner too.

my office printer is programmed to print a certain number of pages before it shuts off and forces a parts switch...its some error code and the cartridges/ink are fine, it just won't do it until you replace the insert.

They force you to install their software so they can make sure generic cartridges work.
Can’t believe they have gotten away with it for years.
Key is never let their software update.
