My grandfather was a member at both. He lived on Vincent Avenue in OM and it was easier for his kids to get to Metairie CC. He played golf at NOCC.
I went to HS with prominent NO families who were members at NOCC. One lived on Garden Lane next to LVG and the other on Oakland right next to the club house, both houses were on the GC. I never played golf in HS, we'd mainly hang out at the swimming pool and do stupid teenage stuff.

didnt some Karen report them for being open a few weeks ago?
I thought I saw someone questioning them being open on a facebook post, but I didn't follow it.
Once the pool is ready, people can go in and swim their laps and parents can bring kids out and must be with them at all times.
Haven't heard yet when the club officially opens with lifeguards, bar, and food, etc.

Chateau Golf and Country Club?
That's where I learned to play golf as a kid. Seemed pretty nice back then. What's the consensus now?

It was like money was no object when Squire was built.

They’ve been doing some much needed maintenance. The membership is quite old but Michelle has been attempting to attract younger families. It’s a greet place during the summer for the kids. I usually don’t go without my kid, unless I dip in for lunch or dinner on a rare occasion. It isn’t terribly cigar friendly, which kinda sucks. There is a small area overlooking the pool, outside of the men’s locker room where you can smoke a cigar, but you get stares from a few moms.
The food is good, sometimes really good. If you live in the area and have a kid 4-16, it really is a no brainer.
With that said, MCC is way nicer, more updated. The food is not as good as CCC, but the amenities are much nicer. CCC is more kid friendly with how MCC runs their pool.
If CCC can do more renovations and perhaps build a better cabana, it could be really nice.

I’ve only eaten at NOCC once, but the food is tops, and it’s not even comparable. SYC is okay. I was offered an opportunity to join but politely declined. MCC dining is probably the worst of all the local country clubs. All of their gyms are subpar if you are really into working out. I did not see a work out facility at SYC, but I’m sure they have one.

Squire Creek near Ruston makes those places look like dumps.
It's good enough for Karl Malone.

After Katrina, MCC was struggling and waived initiation fees or greatly reduced them, and dues, for a while, to build back up the membership. I know several people who joined during this time and still belong. NOCC would never even imagine doing such a thing.
those assessments thinned the herd multiple times

I wasn't in the meeting but the course reno pitched to MCC members claimed that the course would be transformed into what would be considered the top course in the state and top 10 in the Southeast.
Lmao good luck with that

Daughter (no pics) lifeguarded at Metairie Country Club one summer. She was not permitted to sit down during breaks. Very bougie.
That doesn't make it bougie. It makes it a club. Name one membership club where the help can sit down in front of the members.
