The NOCC is not picky, at least not anymore. While still a fine club in terms of the clubhouse, golf course, grounds, pool, etc., the membership quality is not anywhere near what it used to be.

How so?

Yeah, last time I was there some youngster asked me if I could help him "rig up his 420." Pretty sure it was a pot reference.

It is true that some clubs are more exclusive than others, but none of the country clubs are all that exclusive. If you have a good job, a decent reputation and know a few members who are willing to go to bat for you, you probably get in. Truth is, all country clubs (no matter how exclusive they claim to be) need new members to survive. This is especially true as the popularity of golf has fallen a bit.

They talked about Southern Yacht Club some in this thread.
Seems like a pretty snobby place

I think the food has declined considerably since Glenn left.

This is true, then it hit a lull, now it’s coming back up. Still better than all but NOCC.

MCC's brunch is good. The meals I've had there haven't been the best, but maybe the group I'm isn't popping for premium meals?

Lakeside Country Club is the most lit club in the area....those people get loaded and throw down

Parents have been members since day 1. Used to spend every day of the summer there growing up. It’s def in better shape than the 90s.

1979, 1981, 1982

I think they were state runner ups in '80...

i do not know Tim personally. must have been quite the tournaments around NO back then. all of those guys are a bit older than me, even though i have played with and against Ski competitively (lost more than i won FTR).

then after that was Donny Leyacraft (sp?). Donny won ncaa individual tourney for for LSU back in '87 ish.

I know HS tennis was pretty big back in the 80's, don't know how it is today...

I've known Chris since HS, and he stayed local. He was at BRCC back in the 90's for a while before moving to MCC..

Tim went to Arkansas, played pro for a few years and eventually became Texas Tech's head tennis coach. Unfortunately, his son had a tragic golf cart accident and I think since he resigned in 2015.

Ski was in the class ahead of us, didn't know him very well, just by name....
