Down hill on ice is not predictable. You also don't know the conditions of the road prior to the crest of the hill.
Ice does not cover roads uniformly.

I just want to point out that video man put out his own warning signs on the hill and it didn't prevent that truck from slamming into the car.
Comcast sucks and could have done more but they probably followed the public safety rules as they are written. What if it was a power company dealing with replacing a damaged pole in the same location?

this entire video made me cringe

I'm not defending the Comcast guys but you have to admit that those drivers were going way too fast man come on.

I'm in agreeance. My only argument was that if one variable, who was stopped was changed then the entire argument of those excluding the drivers or limiting the driver's blame would go out the window and they would place all blame on the driver.

You don't know that. Their speed was most likely pretty normal given the conditions. The problem was they did not have line of sight on the Comcast truck and sharp braking to change lanes made them skid.
Sure it may not have prevented the accidents but Comcast could have greatly reduced the chances of an accident.

i agree. i bet there were wrecks all over the place because of the ice and people not used to reducing speed on the roads.
but what does that have to do with comcast CLEARLY causing accidents and doing absolutely nothing after car after car ended up in the ditch?
i find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe they couldn't bring in another guy at $20/hour to stand there at the tope of the hill with a slow sign to catch people before they hit the ice.
$100 for a guy standing there for 5 hours is way less than all the insurance claims they will now be paying.

There needs to be annual driving tests. Too many people don't know the rules of the road and take driving for granted. Having to take a driving test when you first get a license is incredibly stupid. It should be every year. Also driving laws change all the time and putting up billboards and commercials is a waste of time. I’ll gladly pay extra for it. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

have you ever driven in an area with spotty patches of ice?
while you're cruising along at normal speed you come over a patch of ice in a shaded area and at the same time you're attempting to switch lanes (where the ice trends to build up) to avoid a truck and suddenly you're sliding at 40mph without any braking capabilities whatsoever.
but of course, this is all on the drivers right?

I'm making a general statement hoss. Not taking any sides at all. The roads would be a much better place if people knew the rules of the road.
