A Columbia University professor of psychology and neuroscience says he snorts heroin and takes other drugs to feel 'refreshed' and 'prepared to face another day.'

quote:

Carl Hart, 54, studies the effects of recreational psychoactive drugs on humans and is the chair of the prestigious university's psych department.

quote:

he says he has particular attachment to heroin scholastically and as a substance for personal use.

'There aren't many things in life that I enjoy more than a few lines by the fireplace at the end of the day,' he writes.

He says the use of heroin can be 'as rational as my alcohol use. Like vacation, sex and the arts, heroin is one of the tools that I use to maintain my work-life balance.

quote:

Hart claims he has snorted small amounts of heroin for as many as 10 days in a row and enjoys it even when he experiences mild withdrawal symptoms '12 to 16 hours after the last dose.'

Hart hopes that coming clean about his drug use will help lead to the decriminalization of illegal drugs.

So, he’s a drug addict who also happens to be a department chair at a (once) prestigious university?

I’m sure his mom created his addiction by giving him cocaine at a young age.

He's right you know...
Responsibility and moderation are the keys to most things. Not everyone who has a drink is an alcoholic and not everyone who has used drugs are a junkie.

And not everyone requires government regulations for what they choose to ingest for relaxation or recreation.

Pretty tone deaf and naive given the current opioid epidemic. But, he’s only charged with educating the next generation of productive citizens. No big deal.

Wonder how proud he’ll be when his landlady finds him after three days, bloated and purple, a strap around his arm and a needle on the floor beside his lifeless body. To paraphrase Travis Tritt, The Narcan Ain’t Workin’ Anymore.

Some people can handle their drugs.
Some people can’t. It’s as simple as that.

I can't stop laughing at this. Definitely rocking that "I could stop if I wanted to" vibe, but just out there in the open like it's cool. All things considered, do you really want to be taught by a fricking dope addict?
