I'm a liberal and the baker should be able to refuse service to whoever he sees fit just like the customer can take their business to whoever they see fit. This isn't like some rural town refusing medical care and there's nothing elsefor 100 miles. Some competitor to this guy would love to take their business. This baker shouldn't have to go through a lawsuit.
ETA: His "punishment" should start and end at the loss of this sale and any future sales from private individuals who don't want to contribute to his business. But he would also benefit from anyone who agrees and would like to contribute to his business. The courts should be in no way involved.

It's about power. That attorney doesn't give two fricks about the cake. What he does care about is breaking the baker's will.
