Quite a few years ago, I was laid off and I took a job working in Traffic Engineering for the City of Baton Rouge. I was required to bring my actual diplomas, college and high school, when I submitted the application and let them make copies of them. The copies were then stamped and initialed by the person who made them verifying that she actually saw the actual diplomas. It was so ridiculous. Apparently they had a guy years ago that said he had an engineering degree and worked for the city for like twenty years in that capacity before they found out.

In response to the OP, I have a BS in Radiology. I worked in a hospital for about 10 years and now I've been doing piping design for the last ten. Even though my degree has nothing to do with engineering, it has helped me get hired and get higher salaries.

I have a degree in park and natural resource management, and work in Glacier National Park.

I'd say I'm on the right track

what?

I'm fresh out of college if that's what you mean
and young enough to refuse to accept the coveted GPA beat into your head since kindergarten doesn't mean a damn thing in the real world.

Let me guess.. Are you also worried the company you're interviewing with is also coming after your Permanent record?

Skipping that chemistry class in 9th grade goin to catch up with you!

Are you that dense? There really are companies that require you to provide your college GPA when applying (if you are a new grad). I don't think that's hard to understand, or even believe.

I am using my masters degree exactly, and knew what I wanted to do since 9th grade. Can't say I'm the norm

I didn't even know my line of work existed when I graduated from college. Been doing it for 30 years . Sometimes it seems like my entire adult life has been a big happy accident.

Masters in Anthropology (focused on SE archaeology). Did it for a while and switched to medical sales. I miss it but the money dried up and I had to raise a fam.

Apparently it does since I got on with one of the companies that asked me about my GPA. They even asked me about my curriculum focused GPA, which is my GPA excluding all the humanities, social sciences, and other BS elective classes.

So as far as I know, GPAs do matter
