Skiing at the Olympic Park in Calgary. That day was -20 degrees with the wind chill...so I went down the slope once, said "nope" and didn't go back up. Even with goggles and face masks and whatnot, there'd always be a little sliver of exposed skin that would burn like crazy. It was bad.

Last January it was pretty cold here in Minnesota. Air temp was -24 with a 15 MPH wind resulting in a -50 wind chill.

January 1999. -36°F in Central Illinois, before windchill. Set a record for the coldest recorded temperature ever in the state.

Just being in a city that's cold doesn't mean you are cold..

I was going towards a friend's cabin in Todd, NC. Elevation around ~5000, IIRC. Could be wrong. Blizzard came through on our way up the mountain. In a 4X4 Sierra, going up, going up, going up.....going backwards. Hit a guard rail that prevented us from tumbling down the mountain. Got out of the truck to clear out snow, so we could turn around. Forecast at the time had the windchill at -45, frostbite in 10 minutes. I was in 5 fricking layers and was still chilled to the bone.

I'm in Minneapolis for work today and yes, it's next level cold. Even the locals don't mess with this stuff. Schools up here were closed today. Apparently this much below zero is their cutoff since yesterday it was -11 with wind, and schools were open. This morning my weather channel app said feels like -28. Walked outside and my face started stinging. This place is a nope for me.

Coldest air temp was -37 in Chita Siberia. Coldest I've ever felt was when I stepped into a pot hole duck hunting and went completely under, filling my waders. Air temp was 17 at the time, and I had to strip naked with no dry clothes. Got back to my boat and wrapped myself in canvas bag my decoys were in and built a fire.....my buddy made it over to me from across the lake and saved my arse. Thought I was going to die.....

Minneapolis set a -35 below wind chill at 6:30 AM before school gets called off, so they closed school. St. Paul set -40 and they had school today.

-40 in meat processing blast freezer. It feels like the air nearly freezes your lungs at that temp.

Casper, WY -20 with winds over 30 MPH

Never been that cold but had to participate in cold weather training while at Fort Drum. Shite gets real when you inhale and you can feel the inhaled air freezing in your nose and throat.
I didn't know it at the time but I had legit hypothermia after one road march in below zero weather. It was like I was hammered but I hadn't had anything to drink. I was dizzy and was slurring my speech.

-2 in Chicago this AM.
Coldest ever been was fishing in the Pacific off Oregon Coast in July. Wind whipping off the cold water, soaked from waves. Captain worried hypothermia setting in, people giving me their layers to wear. Miserable !! But limited out. Took me an entire day under three blankets to feel normal again.

-6º or so in Tulsa growing up. Or 0º up at Big White Ski Resort in BC, Canada. I was on the top of the mountain and it was gusting about 25 mph or so.

High of -6 in Minneapolis today, windchill is like -30. I believe the coldest I have ever been was around 10 degrees in DC, never seen anything single digits to my knowledge. How do those folks live up there. I had a buddy who had a great job in Chicago, stayed one winter...moved and said never again
Negative teens (probably around -15 or so at school in the early 2000s). As long as it isn't windy, you can bundle up and be surprisingly comfortable. If it's windy, God help you.
