If you see a guy, hanging out by the fence with any combination of the following, avoid like the plague, because you won't ever be as good of a coach as he was!

Our County had the forethought to build the boys rec park next to the small municipal airport. I’m sure that you can imagine how that works out on a Saturday afternoon.

We are right beside AEX, you have to stop the games when a plane comes over. If there is a parade of those military helicopters we just take a water break.

It’s an old school term for bases.

Good luck.. my son is playing 13yr old ball... and super serious all the damn time.. I miss the t ball stupidity

Find him a new team. 13 is way too young to be so serious. It is still a game, and no college coach, nor even a high school coach for that matter, will care that they won a "championship ring" at the USSSA Gator Classic Invitational as a 13 year old.

Teach everyone to stay in their positions. Make sure they know where to run when you tell them their positions.

Swing up, every fly ball is a hit.

I coached tee ball for 6 years total.

This is the dumbest advice I've even seen.
These kids are 4-5 yrs old.

Yeah, concentrate on fundamentals. Towards the end of the season, if things are going well, work on cut offs and backing one another up.

I wouldn’t care too much about Ws and Ls and would concentrate on sending your kids to the next league with some core competencies. If they leave your team being able to run the bases, throw a ball to you, field grounders, and hit a soft toss, you are a rockstar. You will have a few that can actually play catch with one another. They are the exception, not the rule.

It's tball, you aren't teaching the game. Winning is not that important to look like a bunch of pussy assholes out there. Unless your kid at first can't protect himself when catching

because 4-6 year olds care what they look like. Teaching them to get outs in the in an efficient way isn't teaching them the game? About on the same level as having your pitcher run to whatever bag the force is at when he catches it. His kids went on to play tournament ball and high school ball. Rolling the ball in t-ball to get outs didn't affect their ability to learn the game.

yes rolling the ball to first base is not teaching the game. All you need to focus on at tball level is getting their skill levels improved which is including the art of throwing the ball. That is essentially your whole job out there. And believe me, kids don't roll any better than what they throw at that age.

has nothing to do with a tball coach doing the kids any favors by having the roll balls around the field like a bunch of pussies and the biggest pussy on the field would be the coach telling them to do so acting like the tball "out" was even that important.

I agree that you should throw it. But there are exceptions, occasionally there is a team put together that has absolutely no one that can safely field a thrown ball. I saw a kid get his two front teeth knocked out on a throw.

Kids have to be safe. The ball they play with is a training ball, but it packs a punch still.

Correct, and I have found that if you invest a little energy with the kids you see alot of them flourish and keep playing baseball for a long time.

at the first meeting, make sure all parents are present and inform them of the the one rule of the team that is written in stone: Anyone who complains about or criticizes anything the coach says or does is automatically the new head coach.
