Probably because she was too busy scarfing down that catered Jack in the Box lunch

At what point does the state AG’s office get involved in all this shite?

Involved in what?

They were given $8 million/year by the taxpayers to expand their services and that's pretty much what they're doing. You can't really bust them for that.

If by "expand their services" you mean their salaries and waist lines then you are right.

They're doing exactly what they said they were going to do. That's why Freiberg's feigned outrage is so hilarious.

Nah, she's just your typical upper crust democrat with no balls to vote against a minority-driven issue.

Plenty of people. Everyone in this thread and the previous threads about them and the city Parish in general.

But you see herein lies the problem. While we all get on this message board and rant and rave, complain and vilify, they are mobilizing their forces and stacking the metro council meetings.

When these debates were happening this board live streamed them and laughed and ridiculed the Tasha Clark’s and “Kibbles” and “Gravy” and it was a big joke and “I can’t believe this actually passed.”

Well it did and will continue to be shoved down the throats of the silent so called majority.

We have no one to blame but ourselves.

To be fair, i'm not sure anyone knew the extent the problem at the COA until after the millage was passed. Hell, most people didn't know that the COA was a private entity not associated with the local government.

The attendees at those meetings have nothing better to do, apparently.

It's the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month. 2 days that people can easily plan around depending on what is either going to be introduced on the agenda, or what they'll have a public hearing on. If you can't plan around one of those things, that's kinda on you.

There are other COAs spread all over the state. I bet all have some level of incompetence and corruption. NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) are often mistaken for charities, but are black holes for abuse and corruption.

I thought that issues of using taxpayer funds for political rallies came up. And IIRC there was a matter of dates being changed on checks or some similar type of fraud.

The entire parish is paying for this tax

Unfortunately all property owners are, but the point is this is symptomatic of how the people in govt. look out for folks.

Remember the parish-council let these people assess the full tax.

Every 501c3 in this town that operates in that capacity needs to be audited.

The EBRCOA was audited, and found to be in violation of state law.

Nothing was done. They don't care.

My grandmother is 91 and my Mother has had to utilize FMLA and vacation time to care for her after she moved in with her about a year ago totally full-time. When she reached the point where she needed help, I looked into Livingston Parish's COA.

They provide her 24 frozen fresh meals once every two weeks. They provide a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk at every delivery along with fruit juice. They provide a family's day out where a sitter shows up for up to 4 hours at a time to let the caregiver run errands.

They provide physical therapy, occupational therapy if needed, companionship sitting, trips to their activity and assistance center etc.

All free of charge.

...and the best part for me was that I could go and look up their budget on Livingston Parish's website and eyeball it for myself. LP not exactly being on the bleeding edge and all.

If it’s a private entity, why does it need government funding via taxes?
