That all sounds great. But we don't need more do-gooder billionaires that give to charity — we need fewer billionaires.

That sums it up well.

Billionaires shouldn't give directly to those in need. They need to give it to beauracrats who then use it as a weapon or a campaign tool to help them line their pockets. That's the moral way to help poor people!

This is a seesaw we need to figure out how to balance. We need the freedom that can create billionaires, but we also need something in place to keep those same billionaires from being able to control things.

Explain your jealousy. If Jeff Bezos didn't exist, how would your life be different? How much more money would you have in the bank today?

The fact that the United States of America has so many billionaires points to it being such a great country. frick this loser.

His bio:

quote:

Chuck Collins (born October 19, 1959) is an author and a senior scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC, where he directs the Program on Inequality and the Common Good. He is also co-founder of Wealth for Common Good. He is an expert on economic inequality in the US, and has pioneered efforts to bring together investors and business leaders to speak out publicly against corporate practices and economic policies that increase economic inequality.

This dude is definitely a fricking loser. As all communists are.

The mindset of people like this is disturbing, to say the least. They should be praising the fact that only in the U.S. can so many billionaires be created.

If billionaires can be created, then guess what? A whole lot of millionaires can also be created.

We used to aspire to be like the successful people in this country. That was the American dream. It still is for all of those immigrants who come to this country looking for opportunity. They can see what is possible far better than these yahoos who believe they know what's best for us.

Today's left are literally being led by mentally ill morons.

That's precisely why I advocate for gutting the power of the federal government. A big reason why these people have the ability to get this rich is because they're able to buy politicians in order to create legislation that destroys competition. Hell, Congress told Mark Zuckerberg to write legislation on social media regulations so they could rubber stamp it.

Amazon has 789,000 employees. Tell me again why we don’t need billionaires?

I think you are not getting the full picture, you will no longer be entitled to either and damn well will not be able to transfer money outside the country.

There’s no denying that the greedy a-holes have bought and paid for American politicians

Bernie said this in the last debate.

Why is the rich guy the a-hole in this situation? Shouldn't the politician who is influenced by the money be the a-hole?

They are the one compounding the problem and causing the long lasting effects. Fwiw, Bernie has been in government for almost half a century...

Mortgages, Daycare prices, medical prices, college tuition, and much more have all skyrocketed in the past 20 years.
you mean right around the time that government started stepping into all these areas?

That’s because Facebook was created by the federal government.

For instance, multimillionaires and billionaires support an entire "wealth defense industry" of professionals — tax lawyers, accountants, wealth managers — that help hide their fortunes in offshore tax havens and dynasty trusts.
They only hire a "wealth defense industry" when the cost of said "wealth defense industry" is less than the savings provided.

quote:

While billionaire fortunes balloon, about a fifth of Americans have zero or negative net worth. And nearly two-fifths of us don't have the cash on hand to cover a $400 emergency, according to the Federal Reserve.

There's zero connection here. The fact there are billionaires does NOT restrict anyone else from acquiring $400. On the contrary, a Billionaire is more likely to throw $400 down for a moments entertainment...or to encourage a pest, like the authors, to go away.
quote:

Part of the reason is that many billionaires invest their fortunes in a way that only expands their own wealth and power
Outright lie. Billionaires spend a lot of money on food, clothing, shelter, entertainment...all kinds of things. Gates and Bezos kinda compete for the most AI automated home.

No, they don’t.

This is one of those deals where they fudge some numbers around to make the "all in" effective tax rates look higher, but they blame income tax cuts specifically. It's ridiculous.

Wage gap is an issue to me. Wages haven't risen by enough in the last twenty or so years, but Executive pay has.
They are making more for keeping profits up. They are keeping profits up by paying employees less.

It's a vicious cycle that ends in drastic change. ...
