I envision a day when the average American isn't bombarded with opinion pieces from idiotic "journalists" that are simply ruining everyone's mind and their ability to critically think.
Who would really sit back and think that a lottery that is open to everyone, is not required of anyone to participate, can be considered "racist"??

I wish the federal government would start a lottery. They could sell $0.50 lottery tickets at post offices or in stamp machines, funding the PO. They could make winnings Tax Free, and set up more levels of pay off, all tax free.
The United Kingdom has a government run lottery: Premium Bonds
Buy once, play forever.

I live in Florida now and you can't even go into a gas station to buy a soda without these morons shitting up the whole place with their stupid lottery transactions. It's truly pathetic. I was always taught growing up that the lottery was just a tax on poor people but I'm convinced now that's its a tax on stupid people.

I actually believe the lottery is systemically racist, not in who they select but who they prey on. State funded methadone.

Of all of the excess spending in public education, I don't think this is a really bad one to feed kids at school.
i wholeheartedly disagree. these families already receive plenty of handouts including EBT, which should cover the cost of feeding their children. So them showing up to school hungry or without a packed lunch is pretty disgusting.

Lotteries are regressive, meaning lower-income groups spend more of their budgets on lottery games than higher-income groups.
And 100% voluntary. Stupid is as stupid does.

Another clown world fake news article by commie news network. What a joke. Terrible journalism at its worst.

The lottery is a tax on the statistically illiterate.
Learn statistics or pay the tax. Simple.

Nothing worse than getting of a night shift and having to wait 10 minutes for people to buy their lotto tickets at the gas station.

What about the white trash that take 5 minutes buying scratch off tickets?
Don’t know where you live, but it ain’t the “white” trash people doing this where I live. It’s the other ones.

Does CNN assume that there are no poor white people in this country?

As a lifelong GOP conservative, I agree somewhat. Although it is not racist, it's classist. The overwhelming majority of lottery ticket buyers are poor people, the government should not fund itself on the backs of the poor, period.
This is a classic case of liberal hypocrisy, the lotteries were pushed by Democrats to fund their vote buying schemes, they knew who was going to pay the price, but actually helping the poor is not really their agenda.
