All the makings for a great story.

Full Story - It Was a Black Thing
The company made a mistake and owned up to it. It's over, right?

Taylor says she went to the H&M store in Pembroke Lakes Mall on Sept. 25 to return a pair of earrings when she decided to buy another pair. After walking out of the store, she was confronted by two loss-prevention agents who accused her of stealing the earrings.
quote:
“I’m cursing because obviously, I have already told him I didn’t do anything. I said, ‘You should understand where I’m coming from. If you were on the other end of the table, you should understand how they do us these days.’ He said, ‘Don’t pull the race card on me,’” said Taylor.
quote:
The H&M employees apologized to her once they reviewed security footage and realized she hadn’t stolen anything, but Taylor thinks more needs to be done.
quote:
After apologizing for the “misunderstanding,” the company added that they cut ties with the third-party security company they had employed.
The company made a mistake and owned up to it. It's over, right?
quote:
She also told the TV station there was no doubt in her mind that her race impacted her experience.
“It was a black thing. Period. I wasn’t the only person in there. Why me?” She said.

Bad move. I worked loss prevention as a part time job until recently. Our policy is once they're out the door, leave them alone as nothing good comes from confronting somebody once they leave the store.

I went to Lowe's a week ago (saturday) and was buying several small items. I got my reading glasses out of my pocket to read a label or two. Then I put them back in my pocket and checked out.
I was stopped by the manager and another employee as I left the store. (one white man and one black man). I showed them my receipt and emptied my pockets. They said thanks and I got in my car.
Should I have gone to the media?
Should I have signed up for facebook and posted about it?
Should I have contacted a lawyer for this severe trauma?
Should I install two front doors on my house to deal with the PTSD?
Need some help from you guys.

I have never shopped at H&M and don't know their price point. But whatever it is, I can't imagine the earrings are worth the soon to be negative press that will blanket this retailer.

Why would you stop at all? You didn't do anything wrong. Should have told them to frick off and went to your car.

Oh, well the apologized, so no biggie, right?
They didn't get her order wrong or some shite, they confronted her and accused her of a crime she didn't commit. If you did that to me, an apology would be the minimum.

Fwiw, H&M cut ties with the third party loss prevention company. Also, the only thing the woman said needs to happen is they need to hire better people. She said they need to be trained better.
Do you disagree?
Do you disagree?

They were in hot water recently for the "Coolest Monkey" sweater they had on a black child on their website. The reaction to that was a bit ridiculous, but this woman has a pretty good point.

I heard they wrote “pickles n***a” on her receipt

She was innocent but I think they should have whipped her arse.

Sue their arse. I had a company do this to me when I was a kid, despite my white male privilege.

And then what baw? What would you want? What reasonable action would make you happy?
I am not sure what she wants now either. They are not going to make her America's newest millionaire because they accidentally accused her of stealing.
What does she want? Free earrings? A $200 gift certificate? What is it?

If that happened to me I would be so pissed they didn't honor my white privilege. I'm not joking, and if i have my daughter in my arms, I'd punch the damn manager in the face if he ran after me in the parking lot. Don't come near me when I've got my kids in a big box parking lot with a CC permit and carrying.
