I made the mistake of going south to Brusly around 5:00 one day. Took me 30 mins to get from Main St. to the bridge.

I would do it if it wasn't a football weekend. I am still close with a lit of my friends from h.s. so it would just be a chance to spend a weekend with some bros.

never heard of anyone having a class reunion like this.

I think most are weekend long affairs. At my 10th Friday was an informal get together, Saturday was a formal dinner and Sunday was a family thing. I had a blast.

My 20th was like that. It was a little different schedule

Friday night: High School football game/tailgate/kids run around
Saturday night: Actual reunion/no kids
Sunday: Day in the park, teachers invited, kids run around, goodbyes.

I honestly enjoyed seeing some old teachers more than some of the jackasses I graduated with.

My 20th class reunion is planned for Oct 20th (the weekend of the Ole Miss game)..

I skipped my 20th back in 2007 because they decided to plan for the night of the LSU-UF game.

I've already told them that if they do that for the 30th this fall, I'll be passing again.

Yeah, this is true. I absolutely hate HWY 1. In plaquemine, it is better to take the ferry. Once you cross the river, you can get to bluebonnet in 10 mins.. but of course it all depends on how or if the ferry is running, in Brusly, you have to get on HWY 1 no matter what..

I can't think of anywhere worse to drive than HWY 1.

Why can't you go to the Friday night thing? Is it all in New Orleans? Is Friday in Plaquemine?

I can understand you not wanting to go to N.O. on Saturday. Your arms would be so tired....

And congrats on knowing that you like LSU football. There is not a damned thing wrong with that. The only people that schedule weddings during football season are the poors. They are trying to save money on catering since they know many will not show up.

When I am on the intercoastal.. Anytime between 4:15-4:40.. The traffic going into Baton Rouge is absolutely horrible. There are days the traffic is backed up beyond Brusly High.

And in the morning.. Its amazing how much 5 or 10 mins can make. At 6:50AM the traffic is not that bad, you can get through with little problem.. But 7AM.. All of a sudden it just starts to pile up.

I love class reunions. We go to my wife's and mine, which is the same year.

Plenty of time there is a tv with the game on.

This is what we did although for some reason we seem to birddog the next decade class up for the same football game. This happened for both 10 and 20. For 10, we also had the same reunion spot as well which was ok but for 20, we did not want to hang out with a bunch of geysers so we reserved our own bar in Mecca. I don't understand the conflict if you graduated in LA and want to watch LSU football. You just get a Saturday spot that has a TV. Shite, most of my class went to LSU, except for me....

This describes mine exactly. Very common now. Just pick one or two things. The Sunday thing blow off. It is usually hot as frick anyway and everybody is hungover and outside. They usually are for the church crowd.

20 is fun. Everybody is staring down 40 and past all the bullshite of high school. If they aren't it is amusingly sad. Saw 2 guys I would not have guessed are total alcoholics. One could on,y stay for the Saturday thing for 30 mins as he walked in nearly non verbal.

I did get to talk to several people that I NEVER would speak to in high school. 20 is probably the last fun one. Just about who got fat. After 20 it becomes a death watch.
