Clancy Jury Is At 11 - 1?

The defense attorney ranted about "One juror who REFUSES to follow your instructions about reasonable doubt."
No indication as to which way the jury is leaning. I hope it is guilty, as opposed to the insanity plea.

If the defense attorney is ranting about it, doesn't that sort of tell you which way it is heading?

The Defense made a motion to remove the 1 juror & replace him/her with an alternate
Prosecution argued against removing that juror
Judge is keeping the juror in place

Can you imagine the outrage if they replaced this juror and then she was quickly found guilty after? Dear god.

That’s all it takes is one rogue juror. That’s why Louisiana was one of the last states to implement the unanimous verdict rule.

Even if she’s found not guilty she’ll be in a mental institution for decades. This already happened with Andrea Yates. She was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2006 and she still locked up. Everybody needs to calm down.

He doesn't but he's probably thinking if any jury would buy the mental defect defense... it's this 1

ETA: Going from the context clues... the note read something like "1 juror doesn't understand what 'reasonable doubt' is... could you please help the juror understand it?"

Wrong.
She’ll undergo a 40 day evaluation, which decides if she needs commitment. The term lasts 6mo until another evaluation. If they still decide to keep her it’s annual evaluations thereafter.
She could actually be out in as little as 40 days.
Yates is a whole different ballgame.

Haven't really followed the case, but seems the chick is clearly insane. She should live out her remaining days in a loony bin.

I have a hard time believing it’s not 11-1 towards guilty. If it’s that far skewed toward not guilty then Massachusetts is super fricked. It makes more sense that it would be one rogue juror saying they won’t say she’s guilty

I'm inclined to think so, but how do they know who is voting which way? That would also be a bad precedent to remove a juror because they aren't going along with the majority.

Andrea Yates was convicted. Overturned.. then NGRI and confined. She has not sought release, and she’s not in Massachusetts. Mass has totally different guidelines.
You can’t know how long she’d be confined and you absolutely do not know the laws in Massachusetts regarding a successful NGRI defense.
