So far this year, 98 calls reporting an aggravated rape in New Orleans have been reclassified from emergencies to non-emergencies while the call was being dispatched.

That amounts to 40% of all aggravated rape reports in 2022.

A recent report from the Sexual Violence Response Advisory Committee, commissioned by the New Orleans Health Department, showed its officers clear just one of every 20 sex crimes — as its depleted force handles a caseload three times larger than the recommended average.

That figure does not include rapes that wind up uncounted because the victim could not be located.

"At the very least, we should be investigating them and responding to them."

That Consent Decree they sign a decade ago is really paying off, that judge should just quit

If there's no report, it didn't happen.
See, crime isn't as bad as all the rumors would make you believe?

All stems from understaffed and being turned into villains. Good officers leave for greener pastures, or potentially good recruits never join. Bottom of the barrel remain and are overworked and anxious of being made a villain in the media. Vicious cycle. The people who lose the most from this besides the police are the lower class, who the police would protect from each other first and foremost, and then the middle class

At least citizens are starting to put pressure on the dip shite mayor. She needs to get rid of her mush mouth police chief. It’s mind boggling that someone could get raped in the city and the police blow it off.

So basically if it's a real rape the victim should just murder the rapist otherwise they won't care or find them.

Definitely not earning "civilization points" with this lack of action.

an article about it from last week

A judge and federal monitors have been over seeing the NOPD for over a decade, at a cost of millions of dollars.

As a result, response time is at and all time high, while the police manpower, moral, and satisfaction are at generational lows. The city doesn't have a functional police department. Exit interviews according to WWL reports say pay isn't an issue.

The fudging of crime statistics because crime stats are racist should be punishable by death. It's a basic right to know how safe or unsafe an area is.

We were warned 30 years ago that 911 is a joke. YouTube has the proof.
