I got one in 2011 or so, never paid it, sold the car i got tagged in, and never heard from them again. Never have had any collections notices on my credit. Wouldnt worry about it.

They mentioned collection agency. This shite doesn't hit my credit, does it?

Nope...if it does, dispute it and it drops off immediately. They have no signed contract from you.
Once Lafayette peeps caught on, the company actually removed the equipment, lol

Not enforceable by law. They strictly rely on gullible drivers to pay them, before they send a letter from a "law firm" to try to collect .

Dont pay or your helping them continue to frick others

Cool, thanks for the replies. Any municipality that does this should be absolutely ashamed of themselves

Ya never paid mine or had any problems - this is far down on the list of things the Orleans Parish government should be ashamed of though.

That can't go on your credit record, don't worry. Credit records only reflect debts from contractual obligations, and a traffic camera doesn't apply. I know this from experience and from working in a related industry. If, but some chance, corrupt New Orleans attempted to hit your credit, a simple dispute letter to the credit agencies would have it removed quickly. My advice, ignore it, NEVER go online and view the video (that's a way they can prove you received the complaint). They'll send you scary letters but that's it. And, it cannot go on your driving record either.

I have like 15 of them, and I refuse to pay. I should add I work for the city, so if they really were going to come get me or the money, it wouldn’t be that hard. When they give us a raise I’ll think about paying them.

Throw that shite in the trash. Write a letter saying to fix the crime, you were trying to outdrive a stray bullet.

In

I got one in the mail last Friday from New Orleans. I was going to start a thread and glad this popped up.

Some cock sucker pulled out of a parking lot as I was trying to merge onto I-10 from Claiborne. I had to accelerate to get around this pos minivan in order to not get in a wreck. This picture clearly shows what happened. I thought about calling , but I’m sure these Nola city employees could give a frick

Edit: it was actually S Carrollton and I-10, not Claiborne

they can arrest you for camera tickets???? woah, talk about shitty.

Most states, because they dont administer points and it isnt a moving violation, they can't do anything but beg you to pay, and send to collections.

It won't affect it. Just watch where you park next time you're here.

Memphis police have these scanner things on their cars which scan all the license plates of the cars around them, whether parked or moving. If your tag pops, they'll pull you over and tow your car or if you are parked, they'll tow your car to impound. That goes for unpaid red light tickets, parking meter violations whatever.

Most states, there are laws that make camera ticket scam illegal.

But the camera companies and cities don't care, it's a HUGE racket, and they make as much as they can, before finally some one with power gets one and puts and end to it, and they move on to next state.

Problem is in some states, the law is vague, and Cities are raking in the cash, and putting laws on the books to continue their money grab scam.

Yep. Louisiana law requires a minimum of 5 years in prison and 15 months probation for cam ticket fugitives.

They will turn it over to Alabama DMV and they will suspend your license. It happened to me from FLA.
Now, I don't know if NOLA gov.is smart enough to know that.

I have been getting one for well over a year.

Wife’s car, in my name....I can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was not driving at the time of the infraction (rt. turn on red w/o coming to a complete stop).

I called them, told them that it is indeed a vehicle owned by me, but I have no idea who was operating it at the time of infraction. Then politely told them to quit sending me notices.

I think they have finally stopped.

The next time I’m in BHam/mountain brooke i’m going to drive like an a-hole down those small sharp turning streets. Pay your fine and quit driving like Mario Andretti in my city.

Listen to this scam.
There is a toll interstate loop in Colorado right out of Denver, and the state decided it didn't want to pay toll takers to man the booths. Because the booths are closed, there is no physical way to pay the toll.
So, the state instead put up cameras and simply fines everyone taking the loop, unless you are a resident and have special sticker or pass.
They fined me $14 for that one toll loop!
