It’s a 10k bonus.
We have 900 officers.
Is the city saying we owe 800-1,200 of these bonuses for officers employed 10/31/22 through 10/31/25?
Or am I missing something goofy like administrative folks or people on military leave from the force or?
Help me math the math
My bar napkin figured that we probably owe about 6-7m and only accrued the 4m for it but the chatter seems to be very different

910 commissioned officers. The ranks promised bonuses may be outside of commissioned officers.
No official number exists on what is owed.

I don’t think MG happens anyway, but IF it does they’ll be shortened routes and/or organizations going to JP.
Early contender for dumbest post of the year.

The lesson they need is in voting for competent people.

Why are they police given bonuses on top of their lavish pensions?

Retention bonuses. They were given a bonus in 2022 and then one now if they stay around.
Seems to have stopped the hemorrhage but not boosted the ranks at this point.

Wtf happened to all of the money that came in from the Super Bowl?

If some of the bonuses were dependent on three years of continuous
employment shouldn't 1/3 of the amount come out of each of the three years' budgets?
Who was responsible for the previous two years?

Yeah, because that stupid bitch was flying all herself and her cronies over the globe (in first class) going to these meaningless conferences… she blew through the money

A lot went to sate taxes and fq fees (hotel fees, convention center fees, etc...) that fund the state budget.
Shocking, but the boom you hear about going into the economy isn't exactly going to locals. Big time spenders and execs bring in national caterers and companies to do a lot of the events.

There's a reason she was nicknamed “Destroya”.

Mayor-elect Helena Moreno on Tuesday said she would pay New Orleans Police Department bonuses promised by Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s administration, not long after officials revealed that grant funds appropriated for the bonuses are running dry. Moreno said she will seek the City Council’s approval to tap the city’s emergency payroll fund at a Jan. 14 special meeting, two days after her inauguration. Louisiana Legislative Auditor Mike Waguespack, who authorizes weekly draws from the fund, confirmed the bonuses are an eligible use of that money.

This is what happens when you late overeducated Democrats run a budget ... they fall short every time.
And this will absolutely help with NOPD retention which they been struggling with. NOLA is cursed ... get out while you can ... everything is pointing to the city failing

Teach this city as lesson on budgeting, and paying what is owed.
This makes no sense.
