No, but they make for good t-shirt phrases for some enterprising individuals.

I don't know about terrorist attacks, but for Houston it was a nice rallying cry to contribute after Harvey. A lot of people of humble means lost pretty much everything and had to basically restart.

I noticed a woman wearing a 'Pilates Strong' shirt recently and that triggered me a little.

It’s nothing more than a marketing strategy to sell apparel. No slogan, phrase, words, or public expressions of faux concern mean anything at all.

It definitely meant something and still means something to people in Boston.

But yes, I agree that it's annoying that every single city/town uses it now. Not for when something tragic occurs, it's just become another watered down slogan like "Keep Calm and Whatever the hell they put next".

When "Boston Strong" first was being put on things like t-shirts, mugs, etc. it was purely to raise money for the victims of the bombing. But of course, a bunch of assholes had to ruin it by doing unofficial versions of it for profit. Then came the copycats doing it for every single city for no reason other than to make money.

Tragedy strikes. Attention seekers on social media: "OMG thoughts and prayers for (insert tragedy location here)"

DING fricking DING DING DING. We have a winner.

What you typed has been so over-used that it has become hollow and basically has no meaning. People type that so they can feel better about themselves...it makes them look like a compassionate person when in reality they have probably already forgotten about the tragedy by the time they click "send".

All it really says is "I keep up with current events. I am a classy compassionate person, look at me. Let me now find the appropriate hashtag to use for this"

The SanteFeStrong movement raised millions of dollars for the victims and school. It works, helps unify people into donating for a good cause. Also helps get all them suburban moms a sticker on the car to show everyone how good of a person they are.

The only people it does any good for are those making $$$ off of it. Those t-shirt sales are lucrative, man.
