Christianity is a "personal" belief in Jesus who came and died and rose again for all.

two to three thousand years of the Judeo Christian tradition on the Western World—an overwhelming positive.

Yeah let's ask medieval Europe and the middle east about how well they benefited. The damn Catholic Church nearly conquered all of Europe

Science" is all over the place in terms of behavioral studies.

Science also has theories that can and will eventually be worked out and proven.

Gods, for as long as humans have worshipped them, have never been seen or proven. Just belief through faith. Again, I really do believe...but I believe religion is something that exists to keep society from falling into absolute chaos. That’s why I think the Bible was written by men. Laws of society. To teach man to be a good human being so we can all live by one another.

Church membership gave people meaning and a support system. Taught people how to be around others and act within society

Expounding on the support system, if a member had a kid in the hospital with a severe illness, someone from the church would volunteer to cut their grass, bring them meals, etc.

I guess “Go Fund Me” replaces that aspect these days. People have to remember that it’s often not the kind act itself, but the reminder that there are people who care about you and your predicament.

Science is a method, not a belief system though. It doesn’t tell us anything about morality, or how we should live.

I understand many on this board are agnostic and frown upon religion

Deism has made most sense to me in my very little research.

That’s mental health. Which is a science.

It’s also parts of your brain that produces emotions and actions.

Even after Covid? At this point, I think praying the rona away would have more effective than what the “science” told us.

The Christian Bible was written by men, Christians themselves admit this. The gospel written closest to the actual death/resurrection of Christ was I think 100ish years afterwards.

The Quran is the one that is supposed to be literally the word of God. Mohammed was basically a stenographer for God as far as that goes.

I sort of agree with you as far as religion. He got Me Too'd and not all of his stuff was great but David Foster Wallace talked about that in the 'this is water' speech. You may not worship God but you worship something, maybe yourself, maybe money, maybe (especially today) your political affiliations (often related to self worship). But no one goes through life without worshipping something. we're hard wired for it.

Secular people don’t mean bad people. Many non-church goers out there still sympathetic to their raised faith but tired of the BS in church doctrine.

Covid was never political, people who are political try to make it political then everyone chose a side and bitches at the other side about how much they're wrong

I would say everything is somewhat political. Be it science, medicine, religion, entertainment, etc.
