I'm sure there a lot more to the story but this one statement kinda sounds like you're the one unwilling to compromise.

For instance, I will attend her church with her as often as she goes, but I will not be guilt tripped for attending Saturday night/Sunday night Mass in addition to going to her church on Sunday mornings.

He said he attends her church regularly, but she's only been to Mass with him once. I mean, I'm not sure why he has to just bend over to what she wants, either.

It also depends on the particular flavor of Protestant. Some of them are pretty harshly critical of Catholics.

My granny was Fundamental Baptist and she even some Catholics are going to Heaven.

would not date a 7th day advetist. A mormon a Jehovaj Witness, or really any ultra preachy protestant. I've dated a non practicing Muslim before. But she was cool. Ate bacon and all.
I would date a jewish woman

So you wouldn't date someone that goes to church on a Saturday but would date someone who believes Jesus was a heretic/charlatan?

Personally speaking, I'd just take the non-denominational communion as it's just a symbol for them and the path of least resistance for him. I'm guessing they don't have the arm-crossing option, so may as well just get up for the free snack.

And then he can still get his real eucharist communion later

Ah ok I didn't see that part.

Well, I still don't see why they can't alternate. One week at his church and one week at hers. Seems like the most simple of compromises and if they can't even bend that much for each other I'm afraid this marriage is doomed.

Do this woman a huge favor and break it off. Find someone like minded and you will have a more joyful life…and so will she. Two people who are SURE of their beliefs and think their partner is an ignorant person will always harbor a bit of resentment. Add a child and “as a father I will …”, it will end in either a bitter divorce or atheistic kids.

Yep. If neither of them are willing to budge on this simple of a compromise, Lord help them once they start having children, financial issues, etc..

She only needed to go once to see the farce that it is. The Catholic mass is the most boring hour of your week. At least non demoninal has some rhythm, stories and a point. I'd never subject my kids to Catholic mass.

Jeb, if you are a devout catholic, you need to think about Catholicism and its stance on the sacrament of communion

That's your deal breaker.

But what about kids?
You're going to want them to be part of Rome. Even before that, you'll have to get her to agree to a Catholic wedding, which entails answering the question about raising kids in the Roman church.

You should either convince her to be Roman, or break it off. It should not be hard to convince someone that a non-denominational church service is vapid, unless the person themselves is equally vapid.

*I'm not Roman Catholic.

I find SDA to be nuts.
The jews and muslims that would date outdide their faith are non practicing usually.

Well, I'm an adult, so I actually enjoy the quiet, reverent, and meditative quality of Catholic services. I don't need Schoolhouse Rock and a latte' from the in-house coffee shop to spend an hour with the Lord.

Easy compromise if you want to be a halfass Catholic

If he was a halfass Catholic then this whole thread would be moot.
