And why was he relevant? Because SU backed into another team’s spot in March Madness and beat Georgia Tech due to a great matchup.

If the seeds had been announced before Southern won that SWAC final, they’d have been a 16 and lost in the first round.

He had a pretty significant career as an NBA player and coach.

Does he get noticed and catch on if he wasn’t part of a team which made a huge upset?

Players come off of no-name teams every year but the main ones who get a chance at the next level got some form of exposure that showed they were better than the competition they normally played against.

I’m not sure anyone would have given a shite about some white kid playing for Santa Clara if they hadn’t done a big 15-2 upset. Of course, that white kid turned out to be Steve Nash.

He promotes a different HBCU for every game

quote:

Throughout the season restart, Paul has worn more than masks to promote Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Paul has represented three HBCUs by sporting customized Jordan sneakers in the Thunder’s first three games in the Orlando bubble.

“HBCUs are very special to me,” Paul said, “and I’m gonna keep championing them as much as I can.”

I mean. This is fine. Southern is going to face a lot of difficulties. As are 1000s of other small colleges who have athletics that won’t be able to afford their programs.

Not sure what challenges they are planning to face but

Bad finances and low enrollment. Obama cut funding, Trump restored some of it. Last year enrollment was at the lowest level in 20 years, middle class black families are opting for state schools over HBCU. 2020-2021 was going to be a pivotal year for many to make it, prior to Covid.

NBC News

quote:

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges has required that BC-U wipe out its $8 million operating deficit before submitting its re-accreditation application this month. If accreditation is revoked, B-CU would lose access to most of its more than $7 million in federal funding.

“We cannot survive as a university without it,” Chrite wrote.

I don't care who he supports, however there is no way he would ever send his kid to school there, so he is being hypocritical.

Maybe if he has a son, he’ll send to an HBCU instead of a blue blood.

Everything? Probably not.

The decision making factors for where I went to college? Probably so.

Do you still have the same views about Jussie smollett not lying about his alleged attack as you did the night it was reported?

no he isn’t

I assume you wouldn’t send your kid to a inner city BR, NOLA, etc school, right? But wouldn’t you like to see them be better?

Snowflake would be kissing arse of a university that has some of the lowest graduation rates in the state Just because they’re HBCU. They’re a drain on the tax payers. Su is a joke

SU probably has 10x the enrollment of his alma mater, Wake Forest, but likely graduates fewer and certainly not as competent as their Demon Deacon counterparts.

Wake is a lot bigger than you think (or SU is a lot smaller than you think). I'd bet Wake has more students.

Hell, Winston-Salem State is in the same town.
