No, I'm saying in some cases they are being coerced to commit a "crime" they would have otherwise never committed.

Several judges came to the same conclusion.

Right. I get if they were coerced how the entrapment defense plays.

But if someone just says "Hi, I'm a 14 year old girl" and your immediate reaction is "cool here is a pic of my dick", then that person should absolutely be penalized

which was what the statement that I quoted seemed to disagree with

Bro, taking up or making excuses for these people in any way, shape, or form is a terrible look

I don’t care one single bit about the scenario, or how it happened. If they had any intention of doing ANYTHING with a minor, they deserve no quarter. Throw the whole fricking book at them

They didn't know it was hypothetical and they actually showed up. Everyone of these situations is the same. They want sex, they chat up or are chatted up with a decoy and they are told that the person they are talking to is a minor. At that point, if you are a normal person who is just horny, you stop all communication right there. These guys that are caught continue and actually physically show up where they believe there is a child that will frick them. No regret for that only for when they are caught. This is one way to proactively root these sick individuals out to try and prevent it from happening. No one should feel sorry for someone that actively seeks out sex with a child.

Was he looking for teen girls or boys ?

In other words, is he a pervert or a fig ?

Where s the excuse? Can you not walk and chew gum at the same time?

The show, which was very popular, was shutdown for what reason? Enlighten me on why it was shutdown.

Literally none of this is a defense of ANYONES behavior.

Try not to be so obtuse.

There was obviously an element of wanting entertainment value from what was supposed to be a legitimate law enforcement operation...are you truly saying that didn't muddy the interactions between the decoys and the predators?

There was a guy who was busted near us who killed himself after being on Dateline NBC – Perverted-Justice

I think this may have been the case that ended that show. We live about 3 miles from the house Murphy Texas.

Story : LINK

Bill Conradt, an American local assistant district attorney in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, killed himself on Sunday, November 5, 2006, when Texas police served him with search and arrest warrants stemming from a Dateline NBC – Perverted-Justice online sting of men soliciting sex with children.

Perverted-Justice (PJ) and Dateline conducted their sting, attracting men to a bait house in Murphy, Texas. Conradt was one of the men who solicited the PJ volunteer masquerading as a minor, but did not travel to Murphy. Instead, a group of police, Dateline, and PJ personnel executed inaccurate arrest and search warrants at Conradt's home in Terrell, Texas. After SWAT breached the house, Conradt shot himself.

The suicide was another point of contention over To Catch a Predator's three-party relationship between law enforcement, civilian volunteers, and the news media. Police were criticized for improperly executing their duties in the service of ratings, and NBC was criticized for leading police operations at the expense of safety and justice. Ultimately, there continue to be unresolved conflicting claims from both the people involved in the sting, and the investigative journalists who have researched and reported on it.

A US$105 million wrongful death lawsuit brought by Conradt's sister was settled out of court, and none of the other men arrested in the sting were prosecuted.

Try being a normal human being with ethics and morals and not a piece of shite lawyer and read the room, as i assume from your posts you're either a predator, related to a predator, or a lawyer.
No one gives a shite that lawyers find a way to get these predators off the hook. They are just as shitty in my book. There is no defense for anyone that is caught in one of these stings.

What if the perp said he knew it was an adult he was texting with and was hopping to meet Chris Hanson.

When someone shows up to meet some 11 year old with a 6 pack of Smirnoff Ice and a box of condoms, it is no longer a "hypothetical" situation. Especially with the context of the communications.

So an AQ terrorist with months of planning to attack a power plant driving to the power plant with the plans and equipment to attack the plant is completely innocent of any crime?

My point exactly.

Idgaf about any of the law’s fine print

Anyone caught up in this show should be executed. Period

Touch the children or even try to, and pay the price. None of your mental gymnastics will ever change my mind on that.

Also gonna go out on a limb and guess which way you lean politically

I found these shows pretty entertaining, "Have a Seat with Chris Hansen" (I think it was called).

Watched them long ago but I remember 3 shows which were bizarre:

1. A prominent doctor who showed up at the "teen's house" and when he got busted inside the garage, he slammed his sun glasses to the concrete floor. I found that pretty satisfying.

2. Another creep showing up at the teens house with a box of pizza. He got busted but was still enjoying his slice of pizza and then offered Hansen a slice and continued eating. Very bizarre.

3. An asian weirdo who showed up and was asked to go to the garage and wait there. Hansen showed up and the creep was already waiting butt naked. If I recall, he let him go due to his mental issues but was caught a day later trying to hook up with a teen boy at a local fast food place. Hansen could not believe that the same guy actually showed up.
