Chiropractors Are Bull****

If you’re one of the approximately 80 percent of Americans who have suffered from back pain, you may have been referred to a chiropractor for medical help.
Both in their offices and on social media, chiropractors have adapted to a marketplace that’s demanding more than just pain management: they extol the virtues of an “alkaline diet,” tell you how to manage stress with detoxing, and wax scientific about the adrenal gland. Though many patients rely on chiropractors to manage chronic back or neck pain, others delegate overall health maintenance to chiropractic care.
Some chiros have gone as far as to adjust the spines of newborn babies, saying that this does everything from alleviating “birthing trauma” to stimulating the immune system to the point where the little ones don’t need to get vaccinated.
quote:
Chiropractic care, I’m sorry to say, is little more than the buffoonery of a 19th-century lunatic who derived most of his medical theory from séances. It has not evolved much since its creation. Chiropractic beliefs are dangerously far removed from mainstream medicine, and the vocation’s practices have been linked to strokes, herniated discs, and even death.
quote:
Though some chiropractors are now making an effort to introduce evidence-based practices into their treatment, chiropractic as a whole hasn’t evolved like other areas of medicine — with hypotheses, experimentation, and peer review. Instead, it was birthed by a strange combination of hocus pocus, guesswork, and strongly held religious beliefs.
quote:
Chiropractic is simply not real medicine. A June 2003 review study in the Annals of Internal Medicine — the type of study that compiles the evidence from multiple studies — showed that massage is more effective at relieving pain than chiropractic. Science says that if your back is ailing, get a massage and go to a physical therapist. Unlike chiropractic, physical therapy will address the underlying soft tissue issues that cause pain.
Chiropractors Are bullshite
I don't have any experience with chiropractors, but I found this article interesting. It seems that a lot of people have had positive results going to chiropractors for various treatments. But I can't help but wonder if there's something of a placebo effect taking place with chiropractic patients. Especially considering the effects frequently wear off and they end up back at the chiropractor.
I know there's a degree of science to what they do but I think it's problematic that many in the profession blur the line between science and pseudoscience. I wouldn't want to go to a neurosurgery & spine specialist (MD) and have to wonder how much of his work is based on peer-reviewed science, and how much is based on magnetic healing practices from the 1800's.

Go to a PT...much better and don't call themselves Doctors even though they have doctorates in physical therapy.

it blows my mind when people let someone "adjust" their necks

Went to a chiropractor once for some lower back pain that just came out of nowhere. the guy wanted to put me on a lifetime regiment of weekly visits and everything that came with that saying I would have lifetime pain if I didn't. I laughed and left. Twenty years later my back is fine.

just like with everything else, they have good and bad ones.
Mine did wonders for my l4-l5 disc.

If you go to a chiropractor for anything other than mild joint pain, you deserve what you get.

every chiro I've ever met spends the first 10-15 minutes of the conversation trying to convince you that they are real doctors and are legit

Just figuring this out?
I'd put a lot more trust in a traiteur than a chiropractor.

I wouldn't trust them to adjust my car's tire pressure.

You can throw blindness in there as well.
