This is why I said in that other gift card thread to never buy gift cards just sitting out in the open at stores.

Why is a Chinese national here on asylum?
What are we even doing?

Gift cards are a hige problem for businesses. I wish one would never walk through my door
Wrong. Half the time, the balance isn't redeemed. Free money for the business.
And when the card balance is redeemed, people often spend more than the card value.

Wondering how this works. The real gift cards don't load until at the register.
There are a couple of ways they do this.
One is you just go grab a bunch of cards off the shelf and walk out with them. Record all the numbers off them, go put them back on the shelf and wait for them to be loaded. You then use the card number to purchase stuff online. And you can either resell the items or just keep them.
The other way is they make the counterfeit cards with the real numbers but keep the real card and put the counterfeit card back on the shelf. When that counterfeit card gets loaded its actually loading the real card that the criminal now has in possession. This way you can then go to the kiosks and get cash from them or resell the cards.

This is horrible.
Explain to me again just what they were doing.

I am very aware of what i have sitting out there not redeemed. I am also very aware of the scams and the responses by the gift card companies to said scams

So that would be a problem for you, not the business.

He probably got caught scamming in China and they sent him here to scam for China

I remember in The Sopranos someone in Tony’s crew was doing this. He was a low level guy but brought in some decent money so they tolerated him.

I operate the business so it is a problem for me

Here's a youtube link explaining the gift card scam.

We need to deport every Chinese national in this country. Every single one is a spy or a crook.
