None of the name jokes are funny.

They are ambitious as hell but I don’t think they are nearly as competent as they think they are.
Well their stuff is made in China so....

Off stolen tech they don’t necessarily understand fully.

So if they had trapped a US or British sub and had the same result, would that have been an act of war?
And if so, should it not be considered an act of war just because they got their own sun and not ours? Does intent matter?

Seems the war has already started
Only if we hold them accountable. Which our current leaders will never do

What exactly do they mean by trap? Are they actively trying to sink US/UK Naval vessels?
It sure the frick sounds like it

Seems odd in a few ways and doesn't add up.
The trap wasn't displayed in the sub's navigation data base for obstacle avoidance?
Chicom's subsea inertial navigation systems aren't sophisticated and accurate enough to avoid know hazards? They can buy commercial grade products that will easily do this, much less develop their own far more accurate military grade systems. It's complex but doable.
Their sub's forward looking sonar didn't display the steel trap meant to catch and hold USN and Brit subs? A steel or other type metal trap placed vertically in the water column is a significant structure, lighting up like a Christmas Tree on bow sonar.
Some important story details missing, but rest assured there's no way a USN, Brit or Australian sub would blindly collide with this type of subsea obstacle.
We've likely already secretly mapped its location.

The submarine hit a chain and anchor obstacle used by the Chinese Navy to trap US and allied submarines
If we lost sailors or a submarine due to this it would be an act of war.

No. They would have denied it belonged to them and literally nothing would have happened.

Should.
Problem is that China owns the President and has receipts.
