To clear some things up, my friends son is in surgery in Lafayette and should be ok. He was not the one who brought a gun to school it was another child and when that child dropped his back pack the gun went off and shot my friends son.

Now that is more plausible than the gun coming out of the back pack, being dropped, and firing on impact.
It is much easier to believe/see something in the backpack engaged the trigger when the backpack was dropped.

It's not uncommon for LC to not have neurosurgery available as well, and Lafayette is the closest place with it available to transfer someone in need of it. Just my .02.

To each his own but it is unbelievably weird to me that your elementary school kid is shot at school, and you'd think to ask someone to make sure FB isn't getting the story wrong.
Not saying it's bad or the person doesn't love their kid as much as I love mine, but WTF is that?

Through 3rd to 5th grade I brought a gun to school.
I never brandished it, used it or told anyone else there about it, and I wasn't the only one who did this. I didnt want to bring attention and lose it, It was more so for traveling to and from school.
In the early 1990s it was a hell of a time.

How in the hell does a 1st grader get a gun?
frick his parents. They have got to be some irresponsible pieces of shite.
Pray for the kid and thankful no one else got hit.

Boy brings gun to school in backpack. Gun falls out accidentally in class. Girl picks up gun thinking its just a toy gun and shoots the boy
This is actually what happened. Boy brought the gun to school. Dropped his backpack and the gun fell out. Girl picked it up and says "is this real". Points it at the floor and pulls the trigger. Gun goes off and the bullet bounce off the floor hitting the original boy that brought it.
This is coming from a girl that was standing next to the girl that pulled the trigger.

Parents of the kid who brought the gun need to be persecuted.

The entire first page of this thread is people saying the parents of the kid who brought the gun deserve jailtime. I can't say what would be going through my head at that moment but I damn sure wouldn't want it getting around that my kid was the one who brought the gun when they weren't.

quote:Maybe a time and a place. But just an hour or a couple of hours from your elementary aged kid getting shot, getting the facts straight on FB, should that really be a priority? It would just be the last thing on my mind, I don't see how I'd care one iota about that shortly after the event, even if the facts were incorrect and coming out that my kid had the gun and shot himself.
